 Upgrade standalone ECU, anyone?

Anyone has upgraded their car to standalone ECU?
Workshop harder to troubleshoot in the future since using standalone?

Looking at MAXXECU mini for my SR20VE neo vvl.
Purpose current piggyback limited function and for future internal upgrades to 240-250 whp and basically looking for gains in all RPM range.
Gonna keep my car in NA form, not turbo-ing it.

K20A is not that superior to my SR20VE 20V. That is a whole lot of money to throw just to have a slightly better engine.
Plus mine is already a 6 speed manual gearbox.

Getting another honda car (honda civic eg,ek,es) with stock K20A will already cost EXTRA minimum 30k, not including repairs lagi potentially another >5k.
To get it to another 240 WHP will cost more with engine upgrades and management.

Where else for my car, everything is healthy.
Just need to upgrade engine and management for me to reach my 230-240WHP mark.
So why not save the 35k?

yeah maxxecu mini and link G4X almost same price, with link slightly more expensive by a few hundred. But link has less motorsport function.
Include installation and tune and dyno around 5k.

Yes and no.
Depending on your engine characteristics, displacement, upgrades etc.

For my engine as an example, ppl have experimented with it and stock can get good gains till 2.3-2.5 inch. Peak will be slightly higher at 3 inch but then loses some lower and mid torque.

I dont need extra controls, but its fun to have.

Also reading up comments, many are saying piggyback not really stable and usually signal not 100% converted to the cheat value. Some signals might missed out, meaning maybe 20% signals are untuned original ecu signal, 80% are converted signal. Then i research more, its due to signal feedback too fast, so piggyback unable to convert as fast as the signals coming in. Some piggyback has more delay than others. Like kkt compact a tuner in penang said it has much delay so he dont recommend it.
Also why turbo cars which has less margin for errors recommends standalone...except if tuned with big safety margin.
