Hi, I was trying to connect my DECO M9 Plus directly to unifi's modem with PPOPE login with VLAN selected to MALAYSIA-UNIFI.

However, it unable to connect to the internet.

(Connecting DECO to my previous router as a normal access point works)

Wondering anyone successfully connect their deco directly to modem working?

make sure you plug to the correct port on the router.
check the logs on the router to get the error message

I'm having the same problem, Deco M9 Plus was not able to connect directly to Modem (PPOE) but works fine if connected to router (Dynamic IP), I think I'm doing everything right - Unifi Username and Password, VLAN settings etc.

Did you manage to solve this issue?

Anything useful from the router’s log?

Use a browser and access the URL http://tplinkdeco.net/ or router’s IP, and view the log under Advanced > System > System Log

System Log: "Tue Jan 26 16:30:11 2021 daemon.err pppd[28279]: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery"

Still not able to connect via PPPOE, tried everything that I know of, even switch the firmware - also cant connect via PPPOE to set up as main rounter, only via Dynamic IP - which I need to rely on my TM stock router AC1200

As I understand, better to connect Mesh directly to Modem to get better stability/speed.

Got the solution from TP-link Support

Set up your PPPOE as usual, the only thing you need to change here is your IPTV/VLAN settings, do not choose the TM-Unifi default, but customize as follows:

Internet VLan : 500
Priority : 0

Enable 802.1Q Tag

Disable IPTV - For my case cause I do not use Hypp TV anymore.

Hope this works for you as well.

You must use LAN1 on the TM Fiber modem.

LAN2 to LAN4 on the modem is disabled.
