Last week end I found that my Axim prompts me to hard reset whenever I change my external battery. After some readings in www.aximsite.com and a phone call to Dell, it's confirmed that the internal button cell NiHM battery is faulty. The Dell service technician said that Dell doesn't provide any PDA repair. The only thing they could do is selling me a reconditioned unit at RM700+. Further browsing through forums found that changing the battery via DIY is possible but required some temperature controlled soldering gun and skilled labor. I know I'm not the right person. Any advice on where I could have this service done will be much appreciated. I called Dell later in the afternoon. I talked to a sales person and confirmed that even I'm willing to pay another RM700, there is no recond unit for me to buy. The reason is Dell no longer manufacture PDA, and basically there is no more support in term of hardware.
The sales person advice me to get the backup battery replaced in Lowyat. I don't know which PDA shop is offering this service.
