Hai, Im new here. Been reading this forum since the past month since we (my bf n i) brought 2 adorable cute joeys, named cheekoo (male) n koochee (female). Our original plan was that my bf wud take the male n i the female. But since we've been reading this forum a da*n whole lot, we believe that cheekoo is much too young. (N i believe it to be the one u guys wud say that its too small. It hardly had enuff hair covering himself. Yes i believe it is so. N yes, u guys can 'crab' at us. Our bad.) So they are both with me now. For the time being since my bf had been crabbing himself that he wants cheekoo back. tongue.gif

N i'd taken a very gud care of them ever since. Spending as much time as possible with them. Taking them to almost every place i go. Even to work. N i wud cuddled them in my hand n typing using the other. Other time i's put them in my pockets or pouch.

N they had become bigger n older since. Luckily for us, cheekoo had finally eat fruits. I wud usually prepare fruit juice for him before since he didnt know how to chew yet. Yeah, he's that small. N to see both of them progressing so much. It had been a bliss. Yup a very tiring yet blissfully bliss...hehe...

So, thank you for a very informative forum. It had helped a lot.
Kudos.

dear all, i think koochee mite be having sum nail & toe problem. it seems reddish n mite be a bit swollen. i tried to clean it up, when i wipe it gently, she's ok. but when i put sum pressure (because the stain wont come off, she wud crab n bite me. the nails, does it easily get infected or sumthing?

KP,

I've cleaned the toe yesterday. It looks like fruits pulps that she must be too lazy to clean. But then i saw that the nail is hardly lekat. n today, the swollen had subside, but, the nail, gone.
Feel like a bad owner. Possible tak for the nail to grow back?

Hmm, if it fell off, most likely it will grow back if the area is not infected with something which will prevent the nails from growing back...

But if it was deformed since you got it, chances are there'll be no nails there.
*
Hopefully it'll grow back. Kesian tgk the toe without the nail. SO used to be scratch by it. tongue.gif
Erm, the nail, if not trimmed, can cause infection also? i hope not. bcoz, my joeys are too small. afraid if i trim the nails, it'll draw blood.

Ermmm, whadaya mean if don't trim their nails can get infection?
*
Well, bcoz before this, the nail is not as long, i dun have this prob. but since, the nail is getting longer, dirt, pulp n all sort of stuffs kinda easily get stuck to it. even to move around me, their nails wud get stuck with my clothes. afraid that when they got stuck like that, the tendency if for them to yank their paws. afraid that this mite be the root cause.

n another thing, the brown spots or patches on their skin - belly n all, that's dirt rite?

Brown spots or patches?? Err, could be dirt or pee stain...
Izit brown or yellowish patches?
Most of us refer to it as yellowish patch... Which is the pee stain or musking stain.
KP

I dun think it's the pee stain. Cause the pee pee one we can see the color kinda come off when we wipe them with wet tissue or sumthing. N mostly it'll just be on the fur. But then the dark brown spots, on the skin, kinda harder to clean, n its like dandruff sort. i need to wipe it gently n for quite sumtime, then they come off. but only a bit. to wipe it off from their body, it'll take ages. i even see the brown spots in koochee's baby pouch.

izzit normal?

Added on January 21, 2008, 11:46 amowh...i just remembered sumthing, its like when we clean the chicken. the skin got brown/black spots one. haa...its kinda like that. so i guess its normal then, rite? just dont like to see it tho. hehe.

i got them abt a month ago. 19th Dec. Yep, compared to the pics u guys posted in the 1st page, we had guess that the petshop owner lied to us. but then, we've already bought them at that time, n they just so cute n i cant help but falling in love with them instantly.

When reading this thread, i've tried my bess to keep them healthy. Feed them with fruit juices, yogurt, n eggs. Bcoz, as i said, they hardly know how to chew yet at that time. Now ok skit la. N b4 this, Cheekoo hardly eats. So i need to kinda rub the juices on his mouth so that he can lick it. It takes nearly or more than one hour each time -each.

KP,
Gerber baby's 2nd food, issit ok to give to them? I mean the one with niacin, riboflavin? Its organic, but then when i read the ingredients, there are these things. Can or not? I think its the mixed fruits one. I've bought the carrot n sweet patatoes one. They hardly touch it.

Wahhh.... that sounds like poor appetite. You can always boost the appetite with some Pets Own lactose free milk.

*
Tried to find it over here (Kerteh n Kuantan), don't have. Wut to do? Afraid that they dont get enuff calcium. The petshop owner where we bought them ask to give them milk. Any type of milk. But i notice it caused diarrhea, so i stop feeding them milk. This is before i was introduced to this thread.

So now I feed them with yogurt, but only twice a week. I also give them papaya. That's the bes that i can do for the time being as the source of calcium.

Btw, they are eating now. So much also. But still worried about the calcium part. Vitamin, i got the delikate vitamin drops.

Protein, eggs mostly. Had to summon my courage to handfeed them mealworms. sweat.gif

If you're squirmish to hand feed mealworms, get a tweezer.

I started with a tweezer, and now mealworms is nothing to me, infact I love watching or searching for those big squishy ones tongue.gif

If you want me to get it for you and post to Kerteh or Kuantan, let me know smile.gif
*
Thanks KP. I'll keep that in mind. I'll try to find the tweezer here 1st. But if cant find, I'll find u. tongue.gif
N i'll be wanting to order a bunch of stuff from u as well. But then, it can wait till u are not as busy as u r now. hehehe....

When you have named them Cheekoo and Koochee, they are now your gliders...and i noticed that their names are in the reversed order, cute!
As time goes by, you will grow to love them more and more..
When your glider is still at such tender age, it takes a lot of TIME to care for them actually.. that was my previous experience, i almost fed them at 2 or 3 hours interval..with crushed fruits, applesauce.. I had to care for them when i was working.. i think you need to feed them as often as you can now..
Your gliders' destiny is changed at the moment you fell in love with them..
*
Yups...n they sure change mine. Hehe..more meaningFULL life. kih kih kih.
For they are always with me now. Work, hometown, my room, almost everywhere. N they love to panjat2 all over me now.
As for food, i always feed them. Even in the day also. Tho they are groggy but i have to. But they eat lil only. Nite, that's a diff case. tongue.gif
N i do do do love them so so so dearly.
The name, Cheekoo, my bf come up with it, n i just reverse it for the female, becoz, as u said, its cute. N easy to remember also. Hehehhe....

Raising suggies provide the first and foremost training ground for experience that is comparative to basic parenting.
For those who are on the the road towards parenting, if you surpass in handling your suggies, you are prepared for the greater challenge!
