Boiled prawns? It's not in their natural diet but you can give it a try if you like. Ttry to keep it as treats though as we do not know the outcome if given long term.

Bought some organic baby food for the gliders today. 2 with Turkey and one butternut squash. Billie ate some of the Turkey Dinner, but not much.
*
icic... thanks for the tip... cuz ive been seeing americans posting on message boards showing the gliders eating seafood!!!!! omg that so cool... but i had doubts so yea..

Yeah, tomatoes are great especially if you get those slightly sweet ones wink.gif

Buttercup, the easiest rule to remember about fruit seeds is, if the fruit seeds YOU CAN eat, generally, it's safe for them... Like tomato seeds, dragon fruit seeds, kiwi seeds and so on... But if the fruit seeds YOU CANNOT eat, then you have to remove them before feeding you suggies. Like apple seeds, watermelon seeds, mango seed tongue.gif Okay icon_rolleyes.gif
Yeah, once they are bonded to you, you can take them out in public cuz they will most likely stick to you cuz they only recognize you as their safest tree smile.gif

Thanks!

I hope Photobucket is okay today, gonna upload summore pixs wink.gif

Yeah, I also use the normal nail clipper smile.gif I bought one normal sharp nail clipper specially for my pets nail trimming wink.gif

Hahaha

Ohh, yesterday I went to Carrefour and was drawn by this sweet smell at the fruit area... I followed my nose and found that they were having a promo sort of thing with some types of fruits including papaya. And guess what? The sweet smell was the papaya!

Goodness, I have never smelt a sweet papaya like that!

Ofcourse I bought one lah...

Can't remember the name of it, golden or fragrant papaya or something... sweat.gif

Here's how it looks like smile.gif

When you choose, don't choose any that has blueberries that are squashed. If they're all intact, when you open it, choose the softest ones and give your glider first. Soft like a squishy feeling when you gently squeeze it. The hard ones and the ones that are only slightly squishy you can store it in the fridge. It will last quite awhile, but make sure you check regularly for ripe ones.

Wash the ones you want to give and gently wipe dry, do not wash the remaining that you're gonna store.
*
yup important to store in the fridge... they go bad quite fast.

That's a bit too much. Cut back to 15 a day.

Just throw that worm out. Sometimes got weird bugs from where you buy from. I found caterpillar-like worms that runs fast and hairy a few times among my mealies.
*
Sh*t that thing is freaking scary.. lately only i had the problem.. i think in the mealworm farm theres a huge colony of these werid stuffs growing there and it gets to the pet shops....

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Feb 14 2008, 09:54 AM)
I give mine around 15-20 per day tongue.gif

But I know Luna always steals more mealworms from the rest and hogs the mealworm bowl when feeding doh.gif

Ohh, I also pernah found that caterpillar-like worms... Hairy and all... Was wondering anak mealworm mana yang berbulu pulak ni? hmm.gif

But in the end I threw it away cuz it looks too funky tongue.gif

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site, just wanna introduce myself.
I have 2 gliders, been keeping one of them for more than 2 years and the new one for 2 months.
Both female, wild from the forest...but the older one is alreasy tamed.
The new female is already pregnant but the male isn't around, ran away.
The joeys are due to OOP soon, probably in a couple of weeks.
Just gald to see so many glider owners.
Very hard to train, but you'll be ahndsomely rewarded.(i mean the wild ones, mine are adults)
*
Welcome to the sugar glider community!

was it really really hard to tame ur wild glider?

HaHaHa... ~

yes damn syok right...i see her with glider also jeles2 i want a ligder like that!!! lols Kiah is cute!

QUOTE(jitshiong @ Feb 15 2008, 04:52 PM)
hehe, they'll stick to u.
if i leave them on my friend's shoulder, she would jump back to me if i were to walk away.
but it takes time to get there.
it's not easy, wild ones will run away if they see trees.
n they'll climb as far as they can get.
*
I have two adults too, but theyre captive bred.. so far i only heard them crab at my dog... hahaha.. they never crabbed at me and let me touch them in the cage but i dare not really handle them frequently..

once in a while i take them out to play in my room but i dont have the bonding pouch so i cant bring them around with me...

so yeah..

hehe.

where u got ur adult glider?

post pic lah.. hehe

u can make ur own pouch if u dun have one.
i used chalk bags last time.
then i make one for my new glider using old cloth.

u should handle them ofthen so they'll be familiar with u.
if they dun crab, it's a good sign.

i got my wild glider form pg years ago.
that time, they rarely have joeys.

hehe,i would like to post pictures but i dun have camera
hey what do you mean by chalk bags?

what does it look like?

You mean cherry tomatoes and baby carrots? lol

Tried some Japanese Rock melon and Royal Mango, both were so sweet! Gliders polished the bowl by morning, but Miko doesn't seem to be putting on weight. Gave a little cashewnuts but she wouldn't take. Only Billie liked the cashewnuts.

Ppl must think I'm weird, smelling each fruit and getting sap on my nose. Hahaa... Actually, one way to see if the fruit will be sweet is to smell it. Fruits like melons and mangoes will smell quite fragrant. Out of most melons, only 1 I found smelled nice and out of a whole stack of mangoes, only managed to find 2 that smelled good. A little extra effort for sweeter fruits. biggrin.gif

Tried to look for that yummy papaya KP posted, but couldn't find any. sad.gif
*
HaHA... i do the same thing.. smell fruits.. weird eh???

lols... but i think that its ok if you dont do it on the dining table in front of everyone..yeah.. mangoes smell great..
have you tried durians? lols....

hey try going to midv carrefour... i saw it last time..

Dont think he do that yet. I dunno how to detect whether he mark or not tongue.gif. Hehe
I feed him apples, mini tomatoes and carrots, and some honeydew.
And about 15 mealworms per day.
*
haha.. when they mark, ull faint when u first smell it.. but i think that if u spend loads of time with ur glider, and it is properly bonded to u, it wont mark.

My gliders are like balloons! The way they eat.... till belly become bloated. I'm surprised that my gliders can finish all their fruits and still want to eat more hahahah. Now 4 gliders (3 are mine and 1 is boarding) are fat chubby monsters.

Anyway, take advantage of local fruits.... jambu and jambu air is full of calcium. Ciku and mangoes are well loved, same as rambutan, papaya and sugar apples....

Kapi is just plain greedy. In her left paw was a piece of honey dew, and her right paw a piece of ciku. She took 1 bite of the honey dew, then another bite of ciku, and she kept alternating her left and right paw. Sigh, so cute. Kiah prefers to munch on ciku and sun melon.

If you guys can afford RM5, just go to Cold Storage and find imported yogurt. I think gliders would love it since it is full fat and full of flavours. Full fat yogurt is much better than low fat.

About the pee thing..... gliders do have 2 types of pee.... but with 1 glider, I don't think much marking is done. Teddy has not started marking yet..... his bald spot still not prominent yet. I've seen gliders mark their owners too, the males do it in such a cute way hhahah.

Added on February 17, 2008, 9:11 pmSoy oil should be fine.... I just stay away from the soy protein, coz there was an article on soy protein being bad for gliders. Somehow the article is missing from the website, it was also on lima beans and avocado.
*
my gliders only glutton on insets oni.. not really much on fruits... ='(

yeah i get wut u mean when those cute lil gliders hold stuff with both hands....hahaha.

Bugs will hold like 3 cricks in one hand and 3 in the other.... then when he cant hold anymore hell drop it down on the floor!!!

i have the article on soy based products being bad for gliders... will post it up later... =)
