broken_string = be strong and support your sugar glider.. i hope your suggie will get well soon..

jamien = certain people.. haih.. you know what i mean..

i have another question to ask here, is it a good idea to have my suggie cage inside my room?

issit okay if i cover the cage with fleece blanket so that i can keep my room clean from poo and pee?

is the poo and pee has a strong odor? cause since it is going to be inside my room, i want to keep everything smells fresh and near to odorless
*
its okay to cover fleece blanket but make sure got ventilation.

nope, not good idea to keep suggie in ur room. not hygienic.

the pee stinks. the male, worse.

its hard to make everything smeel odorless unless you have properly bonded gliders with u as the male will mark everything.

broken_string,

First, Don't Panic.

Second, Your suggie NEEDS a collar IMMEDIATELY.
You need to make a collar for your suggie or ask vet or anyone to help you to make one if you are not able.

Third step,
Be persistent, don't give up in trying to make it.

You didn't mention why it doesn't work.

First, it's probably because the radius or curve is not right.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Second, the material is not right, might be too soft.

Third, unable to hold the suggie firmly, try to hold it firm in a small towel.

I believe that you have tried your best and it's still no avail. It's ok, we all are humans with frailties.

Let you mind be at ease and have a good sleep, tomorrow morning, seek as many help from people.. some ppl may have the skill you lack. Remember always, when one is tired, the body and mind is unable to function well.

Good luck.

Yeah, after the collar is fixed on him, observe him for a few minutes. if nose turns blue or purple within first two minutes of putting collar on, it is too tight and collar will need to be loosened.

siokjinlim,

i read a lot of sites about sugar glider... spend the last week reading bout sugar glider to the point that i got a headache yesterday..hahaha

some suggested to feed them one type of fruit each day and changing them the next day later eg. today papaya, tomorrow pear, the day after pear and so on...

while some suggested that you feed them with mix types of fruits every day, eg. apple+papaya+pear for today, tomorrow will be another mix of fruit..

none(from my reading) suggested to feed the same fruit for 2 or 3 days..

im a noob... maybe others can enlighten your Q

This is the kind of commitment and dedication we rarely see in owners. I think you can try slowly introducing him to the collar. Bribe him if he puts it on. I know the struggling thing must be exhausting for both of you. He wants to be free, you are worried about his wound. Dont give up man! Try the bribing method.

as long as u clean the cage and stuff inside every few days, the smell wont be so distinct. but the noise will be brows.gif
my sg cry/bark at midnight and early morning during the first few weeks. now no more i guess. remember that they will pee/poo anywhere and anytime during playtime. so u need to scout around ur room after playing with them.

he dint choose to be mine, i am the one who choose him therefore its my responsibility to take care of him.

its been a stressful week for both of us, hopefully he can make it till my cny leave start then i can focus my full attention on him.

i will bring to the vet tomolo morning and see how it goes, according to reanne his condition is not as simple.
anyway thanks alot for ur encouragement.

he is a very good boy since a joey and very manja with me, i love him alot.
if he cant make it, i dun think i can ever replace him with another glider.
most likely i will giv up the hobby,

No la. Don't be silly. I'm very sure God has a purpose for everything he make us go through.

It's a good idea to bring him to the vet tomorrow. The solution for putting on the collar is simple. You just need determination. There's a saying "You've got to be cruel to be kind". You have to put on the collar even if your suggie dislikes it and refuses to wear it because it's for its own good. You must be determined to put it on and must be determined to go through with it, no matter how your suggie struggles. It must be done. And I think you need 2 person to put on the collar, 1 person to put the collar on him and 1 person to hold him while you do it. You can ask the vet's for help. Just remember the collar has to be put on. And bring gloves to shield from biting.

You're trying your best to get him better right? You are trying to end his suffering by making him better. It's just that there's simply nothing else you can do (except the collar. that's priority 1!)

You're not a bad owner. It's just a bad turnabouts. Neither you nor your suggie chose for this to happen. You didn't leave him alone when he needs you and that's what counts the most.

He may not have chosen you but you are his as much as he is yours. If suggies could speak he would definitely thank you for caring for him so much. smile.gif There are many instances in life where we have no choice but realize we were blessed with just the right person. The best example are your parents and your siblings. Right? If you're married, it could be your children. You may want a child but you can't choose a particular child. God chooses. We accept and do what we can. smile.gif We still grow and love our families. Same with your suggie. you are his family. And you love him to bits, that's what matters most.

Anyway, don't write him off the book yet. FIGHT! He's still alive and eating and that is an encouragement. Life hold hope right? He NEEDS you, he needs your love, your care, your attention and for you to be strong right now more than ever. Be with your suggie. Support it.

Everything will be ok one way or another.

i would be absolutely agree with jamien..

it is called takdir my friend... never blame yourself for what had happened..it is not like you left your suggie to suffer..you are doing all you can to help him lighten his suffering.. you took him to vet, care for him, feed him, stay up all night looking after him..your suggie would be grateful and say thank you if he could talk..

no matter what you shouldnt give up just like that.. life goes on my friend..and who knows what the future holds for you and him..im not going to ask you to cheer up, but please dont be cruel to yourself, you are doing the best that you could...

It needs 2 people to help putting in on the glider.
A vet should know how to do it, and they can sedate the glider by anaesthetic if necessary.

If the cone is not working, here is pic that shows another alternative.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

It harnesses around the upper body, and has the holes for the arms.
Around the neck, instead of coning out, it has poof so she couldn't move her head to her leg or anything for that matter, yet could still see around which the cone style restricted her from doing. They used surgical glue vs. stitching, innertube around the neck then attaching a "harness" down around the tummy. Then add some pretty surgical fabric with little smiley faces all over it!

Show this picture to the vet and see if they are able to make this.

The cage looks so nice... I want to make my own cage but all the instructions look so difficult and confusing to me (I was never good in KH stuff). So I have to opt for a cage. Been looking.
