Hi,

I’m new here and have been searching through different threads regarding this topic.

Need some advice and recommendations for home internet. I’ll mainly be using it for work and gaming. I don’t really stream videos often. I’m staying in an apartment temporarily for 5 months and I’ll probably be moving accommodations later on. I would like to know:

1. What would be the most affordable way to set up? (ie use hotspot from phone, get a broadband plan like unifi air, or buy a modem online and just get the sim)

2. Which mobile/sim plan would be most ideal in this situation? (I’ve been looking at prepaid plans like #Bebas from unifi which provides unlimited data for RM35/month)

Better ask nearby people, which telco is the more stable one,and get the sim card and lte modem router.
So far this year overall lte signal is better then before,so normal usage should not be a issue.

I have asked around and did some research. Just wondering if it is advisable to get a plan that comes with sim and modem or get them both separately as it is slightly cheaper (?)

There are not much choice of legal ways.
Either use maxis one go, or unifi bebas.
The rest is bypassing the hotpot limit which is illegal way.
Digi unlimited comes with contract.

I will prefer to buy sim and modem separately. Those free modem usually come with 1 or 2 years contract.

I remember roamingman provides hotspot for locals now as nobody is going overseas. I know it’s a bit more expensive but should be okay for 5 months la

They automatically choose the best network at the location and the esim can connect to all local networks
