Hi folks,

I need a standalone cabinet to house my microwave and electric oven in my new home, as my kitchen countertops simply do not have the space required to house these two devices.

I bought a rather cheap rack from Shopee the other day. Size wise, it is okay, however there are a few major issues with it:

1) Opening and closing the microwave door wobbles the unit. I am told this is called racking. The rack isn't defective and was fixed tightly, yet using the microwave is rather uncomfortable.

2) The electric oven vents upwards, and this causes the thin metal rack to heat up rather quickly (and it heats up the microwave above too). 1. (Note: In the image above, it appears the oven doesn't have enough clearance on top, but mind you the rack has multiple adjustable levels that gives a larger clearence which still result in the same thing, just not as badly)

3) This entire unit is simply not secured enough to the ground to be used for heavy duty appliances like electric oven and microwave.

What I am looking for is a wooden cabinet, with at least two levels to house the oven and microwave (oven at ~waist height, microwave at around shoulder height).

I attempted to draw out what I'm looking for. Appreciate if y'all can share some ideas with me.

Thanks!

fundamentally u are missing a crossbrace.

other alternative is use pegboard or similar backing sheet that also function as crossbrace, ur rack susceptible to wobbling because the tolerances all add up and are loose enough for it to twist.

plus pipe clamp or other mounting option if its square pipe

Hi thanks, I understand there could be ways to improve the stability, but at that point I rather just get something more solid. Screwing into the wall is not an option. Also, this doesn't solve the heat issue (metal gets heated up from the oven exhaust). Was looking for suggestions on what people have in their homes.

Most welcome, we use the microwave as a standalone tabletop masterpiece and yes it take up room, for 70L (pretty large oven) we just use it on the floor as necessary (most of the time put in storage only).

Sorry I didn't get your intended end result. Are both devices supposed to be outside the paper drawn cabinet doors (ie sth like 2 shelf rack above cabinet doors) or 1 hidden inside 1 outside?

You got it right, intended result is Exhibit A, two platform above cabinet door. Lower is oven, higher is microwave.
