Mostly yes, but Neapolitan pizza hardly has garlic in it.
Basic margherita pizza only has 4 ingredients, dough (made only from flour, yeast, salt and water), crushed tomatoes (uncooked), basil and mozzarella cheese with occasional dash of pecorino / parmesan). The magic is in the dough and everything else is just complimentary.

You try to cook curry or chinese style cooking. How many ingredient needed and so easy to fk up the taste. And because of that, everyone have their own unique variation. We also welcome any fusion as long as it dont butcher the basic concept.

I eat hawaian pizza last monday and the sweet sour taste is kind of blend well with oregano and tomato scent.
