Hi everybody. I made this video soon after i replaced my BMW F30 battery. This video serves to educate those who might come across this meter condition yet didn't know that a battery change is required. Hope this helps. Thanks. jasonlim liked this post

QUOTE(cockerish @ Aug 6 2021, 08:36 PM) Good for making video. It will help others who drive this car .....need more people to make video how to diy Thank you. I made this because even i couldn't find the info on why it behaved like this when it happened until I doubted my battery required changing. But why buy 318i ? Should get 328i or 335i. 318 is like wanna be there but not there kinda car I bought the 316i purely because of tax. Pricing for the 328i is just too ridiculous. I bought my car brand new cheaper than camry at the time. Worth it. 5 years free service. Better driving experience. |

I get the same problem with my F30 during MCO. Sometimes it will trigger an error, and if you scan it with BMW tools, you will see a FlexRay related error which is the communication bus of the vehicle.Mine was so bad that even the horn doesnt work on random occasion, gear would drop to N when driving. If it ever drop to N, the only way to get it back to D is by restarting the car. After changing the battery, everything is back to normal |

Could buying a 318 or 316 be purely for NVH for those buyers?
Since accord and Camry still got loud road/tyre noise? |

Sometimes it will trigger an error, and if you scan it with BMW tools, you will see a FlexRay related error which is the communication bus of the vehicle. Exactly the same time it affected me. Seeing that I drove my car less due to MCO this issue sped up. I did have an occasion where during the engine start-stop system doing it's thing, the transmission fault warning popped up and the gear popped in to N. I switched to D and the car started to judder a while before returning to normal. Mine was so bad that even the horn doesnt work on random occasion, gear would drop to N when driving. If it ever drop to N, the only way to get it back to D is by restarting the car. After changing the battery, everything is back to normal Thanks for the info. Error with the communication bus makes sense. Something like modern day aircrafts. |

The funny thing is tyre noise was not what drove me to the BMW instead of Camry when it came to comfort. I fell in love with the Beemer because of the gearbox. Super silky smooth shifts to date.Since accord and Camry still got loud road/tyre noise? |

Lucky I was driving around town area when it decides to shift into N. Cannot imagine if I was at highway speedsThanks for the info. Error with the communication bus makes sense. Something like modern day aircrafts. |

Best thing to invest now is a battery tester. It’ll help you to check your battery’s condition.
Got more cash, invest in a battery charger and reconditioner. It’ll keep your battery in good health. Btw TS, did you register your new battery to your ecu. You’ll need to do so if you have not. |

That's good advise actually especially if the car is not gonna be driven much. It was registered the moment I got it changed. Car is totally fine nowGot more cash, invest in a battery charger and reconditioner. It’ll keep your battery in good health. Btw TS, did you register your new battery to your ecu. Didn't you get your battery replaced when you're still under the 5 years warranty? It's free.
