at first i think of want to change because i want my mature adult shih-tzu (9 yrs old) eat same kibbles with the silky which going to turn to adult soon...
i'm not sure whether the shih-tzu can take so high protein food or not cause he's too old to do any exercise and have joint problem....

my silky loves to steal his food (which currently on pedigree, which i don't agree - not my dog)....i want them to have same kibbles so that they don't have problem eat each other foods....

Hi Conangirl,

hi,

i don't mean that it's not good for my dog but coz i got two dogs is having this brand (Orijen), one of it is not suitable coz of old age..my silky terrier is doing fine and the coat and skin is good...although there's nothing happen to my shih-poo, but because of his age, he's lack of exercise now but orijen contains high level of protein...that's why i'm looking for other brand that suitable for mature adult dog which the ingredients are lower in protein..

Anyway wanna ask bout treats if u all dont mind..Wanted to give small small pieces of sausages as treats when in training? Is it ok? Coz books all got pics of sausages..

i think it's better give them normal dog's treats cause sausage that human eat is too salty eventhough we can taste it out...

currently my rocky boy is eating royal canin medium junior.. the kibbles r quite hard.. and i knw he dun lik to eat hard food..so, i blend it using eletric blender n keep it in container.. during meal time, i wil put few spoons into a bowl n mix it wf boiled chic/pork...and also can put some chic/pork soup (the left over water after boiling the chic/pork).. then it wil look lik rice wf chic/pork... anyone do like me? is it good? please advise...

actually it's not advisable to give your dog too many "xtra" on their diet (which is kibbles)... you may mix it with boiled chic/pork maybe as special treats of the week/month but not recommended everyday... as the soup also don't make it a habit like every meal also will soak it with soup..if they taste so yummy meal everyday, they will refuse normal kibbles when they grow up...they will keep demanding for more chic/pork and might change to meat diet only later on...some dogs will chose to eat the meat and throw out the kibbles back..they are smart enough to differentiate what is tasty and add on the flavour on their food eventually...

you actually can soften the kibbles with warm water and left it for about 5-8 minutes before serve it to your dog...if your dog already on your special diet for long, they might refuse to eat for the first few days/times..be patient and teach them to follow your rules not theirs appetite... choose the best suitable and nutritious kibbles for your dog and stick to it... good kibbles actually provides enough nutrition for a dog need and no supplement needed...
