Hi all,

Im planning to get an upgrade for my unifi. Saw that tv package offered in the portal. Here my question:

1. Is it worth to get the tv ? Or should i buy outside
2. If i get the tv package, can unifi tv directly install in the tv instead of getting seperate android box?

Tq.

Are you talking about the "RM99/mth for 55" LG TV or Acer TravelMate P214 laptop" thing?

1. Whether it's worth the money or not would depend on the model of TV and what year it was released. You cannot directly compare with prices on Lazada/SengHeng/etc because Unifi doesn't state the model/year included in the add-on. Over a 24 month period the TV would be around $2400, so you compare that against the current prices for 55" TVs on the market, I guess.

2. According to this post I found on the UniFi community forum, dated January 2021 - https://community.unifi.com.my/t5/unifi-TV/...S-TV/td-p/47023 - they only have the app for Android TV. Fwiw, I once tried the app on my Sony Android TV, and it was practically useless. Navigation was too cumbersome. It was like an enlarged phone app rather than a dedicated TV app. That was a couple of years ago though. Maybe different now.

Fwiw, I don't care for Unifi TV. If my package allowed me to drop Unifi TV and just get broadband at lower cost, I would, but I'm an old customer from the early days Unifi came to my housing area and they upgraded me to 500mbps @ rm179/mth a few years ago, so I just stick with that package. The old TV box is in my TV drawer, still in the packaging, never used.
