If you want to drive fast and brake heavily, then go for G or S spec. If you just want to modify your car to a nice looking one, J spec is the one for you to modify one.

Some people might get the J spec, upgrade the rear brake from drum to disc, manual transmission and add turbo.

So the choice is yours, think wisely.

QUOTE(hazremi @ Feb 21 2009, 09:33 AM)
The SA told me if i change the HU for the J spec, it will void the warranty on wiring..which makes me wonder? Is wiring a big issue in toyota vios?

i'm not the type who drive fast like ah beng..i'm the type who drives to achieve better FC...i just want to mod the car with the money saved...i did think bout getting G spec, but the fact i have to fork out another RM12k and it doesn't have usb input for the HU really turn me down..
*
Yeah it's like that, if you change rim or suspension, then void suspension system warranty. If you install bodykit and drill holes, then void your car body warranty, example if you encounter car body rattling noise, they won't care for you anymore because warranty voided.

QUOTE(kepalapening @ Feb 21 2009, 06:12 PM)
hazremi, what if you wait for another one or two years.

Try to save some amount of money, in equal to what you can afford to pay as the installment for J spec, every month.

I think, by that time you could buy the G spec. Be patient.

IMHO, stock car is better. Use it as is.

Usually, modding your car will make you visit the wordkshop more frequent.

Save the money for modding the car, for the Toyota SC. Always use original parts. Service your car as scheduled. Perhaps you could also afford to use the fully synthetic oil (reduce the number of SC visits to half).

p/s:
1.Rich people always say: If you want fast car, go and buy a fast car. If you want beautiful car, go and buy a beautiful car. Modding the car, shows that you are not rich.

2. I don't work for Toyota. I am also a "makan gaji" man.
*
As I mark it down as bold at above, where you get this quote or just I'm too outdated and never heard of this before? I can see there are a lot rich people buy sport cars and mod them as well. Modding car is a kind of hobby just like girls make up, so nothing wrong with the crappy quote in your post, couldn't agree more. Plus a rich man can also buy cheaper car and mod the car to a faster car, so money has its own choice, you cannot stop them from buying any car or mod their car.

For me if I'll go for J spec, probably I'll do:
- Choose white color
- Change HU and better mid bass speakers
- Sound proofing
- Upgrade to 16' wheels
- Adjustable absorber
- TRD body kit
- Get rear disc brake (if got extra money)

If I found a VIOS without any logo on the road, I know that it is a J.  icon_idea.gif

That will just shows that you are looking down on people do you? notworthy.gif A lot people get G or S spec also take down the G and S badges.

explore gear ratio? how u wanna judge for the explore? normal city drive not count? or SIC only count?
even i'm a honda fan, i do admit the power is lose to vios... or u always think of the 120PS hp? but only can enjoy when u rev up or more than 6K, i not going to explore like this everyday... pls judge pratical...

last gen CVT gearbox was nice, the really hav the feel driving HONDA cars... now, is another story dude...
fuiyo, talk about handling, honda is well known for stiffer suspension hence provide better steering response and better handling, but comfort suffer a bit... but how much the amount need to spend for this? every buyer hav their calculation and personal needs in their mind dude... vios J lose ar? throw in TRD suspension lo...

Vios J not solid? keke... since vios J price was cheap, can put in 2K for autofoam and sound proofing, i DOUBT NHC can near to it... try to knock the bmw 3 series front fender, see it solid or milo tin... hehehehe... this wat i done for my sis car, hope i didnt left any knock sign on it...

sometimes strip down version does good to ppl who like to mod, they can add in stuffs depend their likes... and DIY it also...

if like this compare till next year also still catfighting... tongue.gif

70+K VS 85-90K?

peace... whistling.gif

Agree, I'm now a bit regret that I never wait for the new Vios and go get a G spec year 2006 facelift Vios. So next time I should think twice before get a car. In future I might think of the quality of the car and price. If now I'm really interested in buying Vios, probably will go for J spec, then add AutoFoam and soundproofing mat.

today i went service my car..

for the 1st and 2nd service... meaning 1000 and 5000km, they use Minerals, a type of crude oil.

Then 3rd service, 10,000, you can choose to use either Fully or Semi syn.

Semi syn, every 5k change... Fully syn 10k ...

Other than mileage, overall fully syn is better than semi, there's a brochure in toyota waiting hall got explain all these stuff.
1st service is nice... they help u wash and vacuum your car also.. haha, thought of washing myself today, but got ppl help me wash already.
Heard ppl said, 1st 1000km, cannot rev...

Now past already and went for 1st service...can try power oledi!
*
Some might say must wait until engine run in then only can rev higher. Some say you can even rev higher below 1,000km mileage.

By the way, I already rev my own ride to 6,000rpm at below 1,000km mileage.

so can i conclude when u get your vios, the service interval is like this

1. 1000km service
2. 5000km service
3. 10000km service
4. service for every 10000km interval..

is this the right way to service your vios?

some people said you don't need to service 5000km...
*
This is the way I service my car.

QUOTE(jackoz @ Apr 3 2009, 09:49 AM)
hi, wana ask. Can i use my own engine oil when go to toyota sc?
*
This one I'm not sure, normally they will just recommend you to use their own made engine oil. It's better don't bring your own brand engine oil to there. If you wish to use your own engine oil except Toyota brand, then go outside service better. Less waiting time and also less labour charge.

One more thing, if you think of using other brand of engine oil, for me if I have this kind of mind, which means I'll not go back to service my car at SC anymore.

Wow!!! The new batch Dugong auto clock 3,000rpm at 120kmh is high la. What's the mileage u guys get for 40 litres, 50-50 city/highway?

Mine is 1.5G 2003, cruises at 120kmh at 2500rpm ONLY!!! While 40 litres gives abt 530-560kmh!
*
I think more than 2,500rpm. As for mine, if it reach 3,000rpm then my speed will touch roughly 130km/h. 4th gear, automatic transmission.

I'm using 195/55/R15 Falken Ziex 912, quite grip on both wet and dry road. If you want to stabilize you car, then get a front struct bar, confirm more stable when cornering and also stable when running straight especially on highway.

wow... i also using falken ziex912 on my wira with front strut..
but vios, better dont mod first as i seldom drive it... maybe will put 4 point Ultra racing front strut.. tires maintain first
u bang him or he bang u ?
better claim insurance right
*
I don't really modify my Vios, just install struct bar then the car become much more stable. I never touch any of my engine and suspension part. Driving 110km/h will not have "floating" feel, that's enough for me.

When will the new version or facelift of toyota vios available ?

I guess that's still long to wait since the new Toyota Vios launched in year 2007, so 3 years later should be 2010.

no..i heard from SA said the vios will launch TRD version.
They use E spec to mod trd spec,so later on basic E spec will stop selling alrdy, just sell the TRD spec.
And the price of all the spec of vios will increase.

***I heard from SA only, don't know is it true or not***
*
TRD spec is TRD, facelift is facelift. Both of them are different.

QUOTE(baowen @ Sep 8 2009, 10:05 AM)
currently at service center,
so sad that i cannot ask for aligment adjustment due to i have change my rim and tyre ( no original we can't do it for you, really wtfbbq )

i raise my question on the tyre noisy sound, they claim it might be the bearing is faulty due to changing the sport rim... ( another wtfbbqkthxbye ), they can't change it because it is not original rim + tyre ( another wtfbbq )

now i am thinking the free 3 year warranty is actually alot of thing that we can't claim it as they will just simply blame to any new change on the car by yourself. i will not going back to the toyota service center after my free service is used finish.

Please think twice if you want to buy this vios, as i am very disappointed on the workmanship of this car + this car is not meet my expectation.
please consider other car because this car just not worth RM80k at all. Personally think that proton will be better, just toyota with VVTI owns campro smile.gif

if i got second chances, i will never ever want to get this car. ( fully disappointed and need to bear with it for another 6~7 year T_T )
*
I guess you need to understand the warranty terms and conditions before you blame them. Any part that you change or remove, they void that part's warranty.

Not going back to the service center is up to you, I'm also went out from service center after my 10,000km service at there because at outside is much cheaper. Again, do understand their warranty, later you go to outside service and unfortunately one day your car has any problem, they won't solve for you for free in Toyota service center.

Please think twice before you blame them. nod.gif

I also realize that driver side can hear louder noise, while back passenger is much more comfort.

Maybe I'm going to apply AutoFoam into my ride at end of this year or next year. Will share the improvement experience after I do that installation.
