anyone know by change the rim from 14" to 15" will void the warranty or not?
Stock rim for Vios J,E is 175/65/R14
stock rim for Vios G,TRD is 185/60/R15
i will get my vios J soon, so if i change it to 185/60/R15, will it void the warranty??
or if i change it to 195/55/R15 ? what will happen if really someting bad happen to the car (example : bearing spoil and etc) will i get FOC on part change?

Really curious on this because, i ask my SA, he say do no change anything is the best to avoid SC void the warranty, but i not satisfy with this answer :S

i experience both on my 2 week old VIOS J.
- when car idle with air cond turn off -> belt noise is quit obvious ( i assume toyota is using chain belt so the sound should be normal)
- i can easily hear the Tyre noise when driving, the sound reduce 50% when i change to different Tyre ( comparing with stock goodyear GT2 Tyre)

I suspect the sound proofing for the VIOS J is very lousy, because it is not as quiet as the 1st GEN VIOS.

need help >.<"

For ur braking noise... it is some noise like knocking when u press on the brake pedal. Sometimes u will feel like the brake is not functioning or something is moving n knocking on ur brake system. Send back to Toyota n the reason they give is RUSTY lar... DUSTY lar... really like w..t..f.. after fix... 2-3 weeks the same problem come back.  mad.gif

For tyre noise they also cant do anything lar. They say since it dun affect safety lar... n all vios is liddat tis n tat. I even call Toyota Hotline to complain. They did follow up but end up DO NOTHING. Pls call n keep complaining as one person power is not enuff to push them to do some work. Hate the tyres noise a lot. Makes me go crazy if mix up v my radio music.  mad.gif

Nope... I'm driving E-spec after enhancement still face the same noise. I change to Michelin PP2 just slightly reduce the noise. What brand are u using now?
*
Okay, i will call the toyota hotline to complain about the noisy coming up from the arch.
I think the anti rust they spray in the arch there is too little, that why the noisy can easily hear.

I change my Tyre to Federal EVO 595, but PP2 give better sound reduction compare with this.

currently at service center,
so sad that i cannot ask for aligment adjustment due to i have change my rim and tyre ( no original we can't do it for you, really wtfbbq )

i raise my question on the tyre noisy sound, they claim it might be the bearing is faulty due to changing the sport rim... ( another wtfbbqkthxbye ), they can't change it because it is not original rim + tyre ( another wtfbbq )

now i am thinking the free 3 year warranty is actually alot of thing that we can't claim it as they will just simply blame to any new change on the car by yourself. i will not going back to the toyota service center after my free service is used finish.

Please think twice if you want to buy this vios, as i am very disappointed on the workmanship of this car + this car is not meet my expectation.
please consider other car because this car just not worth RM80k at all. Personally think that proton will be better, just toyota with VVTI owns campro smile.gif

if i got second chances, i will never ever want to get this car. ( fully disappointed and need to bear with it for another 6~7 year T_T )

good to hear that you are all good with your VIOS J
well, maybe i am the unlucky one sad.gif
or maybe the expectation for me on a toyota vios is too high biggrin.gif

( after car service, try to go with top speed, when reach 175km/h and have some minor turn, the car is a bit shaky and i slow down the speed right a way, suspension is too soft can't hold it biggrin.gif )

overall still a good car. (beside the sound proof)

i mean the car bounce up and down when the road is uneven at high speed 170++KM/H

the steering and everything is just fine. just the car like going to out of control due to the sudden bounce ( maybe i am too afraid of it so stop stepping on it. )

currently my car is clocked at 1500km only. only mod change is change to 15" sport rim with 195/55 tyre.

I guess you need to understand the warranty terms and conditions before you blame them. Any part that you change or remove, they void that part's warranty.

Not going back to the service center is up to you, I'm also went out from service center after my 10,000km service at there because at outside is much cheaper. Again, do understand their warranty, later you go to outside service and unfortunately one day your car has any problem, they won't solve for you for free in Toyota service center.

Please think twice before you blame them.  nod.gif

well, i do understand changing any part will void the warranty, but the problem is the noisy sound come from the tyre place when you drive above 80km/h.

how the f*** they can say it is the bearing making the sound? toyota original *GENUINE* bearing will so fast making sound?
don't tell me about my sport rim is causing it, i change accordingly and the weight of my sport rim is 30% lighter than the steel rim.

and personally, i don't think is the bearing issue, for me i think is the sound proof for the entire car is damn lousy.
I just not happy when i ask for checkup on something, they will simply blame it to your sport rim.

As i read many user review on here, alot of us is having the same common issue on the sound proof. even when you drive 140km/h, you can start hearing the engine sound is very loud or you rev your car at 4500RPM to 5000RPM, the sound is very loud compare to proton wira.

The major irritating noise I got are
1. when going uphill while the engine hover on 2000rpm the engine roar is loud. other rpm is ok.
2. road noise. btw it is most loud in the driver side. Try to be passenger, the noise is lesser a lot. But no where near Latio's NVH.
3. when hovering/cruising on around 120km/h, there's a periodic cyclic humming sound easily heard.
I have ViosG, ViosJ & Wira1.6 to compare. Still the Wira is more noisier.

Anyway, do you add any spacer on your rims, or the overall radius/diameter is still maintained?
*
i don't know got add or not, coz my sport rim is 4 hole (normally those taiwan imitation rims has 8 holes), it fit in without any modification on the sport rim itself.
and i drive at 180km/h, it is stable, just the suspension too soft for a bumpy road feel like riding a boat biggrin.gif

well, the noisy sound i think is the most common problem for the new generation of vios, you can hear easily on the driver side, but not the passenger side.

engine is very noisy when it rev above 3000rpm. i cannot hear my radio sound when i drive a 180km/h.
i only able to hear the engine sound + long whistle sound ( wind sound i think ).
Overall, the sound proof is sux big time when u compare with the 1st gen vios smile.gif

Just recently I ride Waja and man, even @ 90kmph felt similar like Vios going 160kmph. Vios 180kmph definitely is bumpy & floating. Esp when you are on the right lane to KLIA try it.

Vios is able to reach around 200kmph +/-, but it were never that stable - the ground clearance is high, roof is taller and this is not a track car. Don't buy Vios and treat it as a sport car, accident will happen.

My ViosG have ASL built-in, so I still able to heard the radio even when that fast because the volume auto-adjusted via car speed. At 180kmph, the tire noise are worse than the engine noise. Even 6000rpm sounds muted with all those tire noise. As for the whistle/wind sound, can't even heard it @ that speed because tire too noisy.  Wind noise can be heard when you are around 80~120kmph.
Come on, even all those Lotus handling car also body roll when I U-turn. Really tried them all (except Neo CPS, anyone know where to test drive or owner free ride? tongue.gif).

well, i never treat vios as a sport car, i treat it as a family car or comfortable car, but the sound proofing for the latest generation vios is terrible bad compare with the 1st generation vios. ( so i don't know vios will fall under which category now as it is not comfortable now with the noisy sound)

the tyre noise is very unbearable, some times the tyre noise is cover the engine sound haha biggrin.gif
