Same here, highway KL to PG, just reach half-tank on 370km with 120~140km/h. Continue driving here & there in PG island, and a refill, calc FC ~15.8km/L.
*
Yeah, in my calculation also, it wasn't 100% highway driving coz I drove inside KL, then to Damansara, then traffic jam in Bangsar, then I refill. That's why the number was 95% highway lah.

Is it really 5K service since the sticker they put on my car: "Your next service is 6,000km" after my 1K service. Does that mean "1K + 5K"?

The 2nd Value of Old Vios damn high, RM 62,000 for year 2004... Any idea?
*
Really? Where did you see the price listing for Vios 2004? But I do agree the price doesn't devalue much ever since Vios was first introduced in 2003.

Generally I see Vios 2003 still goes for RM50K+ in the 2nd hand market. That's only like RM30K drop for 4-5 years. Not bad at all!

Silver, E spec (improvement)
By the way, when the fuel indicator left only one bar, it will start blinking right? How long can it goes?

About six litres. When blinking, I refuel the 42-litre tank, it stops at 36 litres.

On "how far can it go" question, it depends on how you drive your car lor. We can argue how many km that 6-litre can achieve, until the cows come home.

It's bee explained in this thread before on why the alarm can activate from close range.

It's for safety reasons. I give you a hint: You are in a dark parking lot, at 2am, lotsa drunk people around, lurking. You unlock your Vios from a distance away, say 100 meter. Then... (leave to your imagination) ..

I don't have tic tic sounds, but I do have ngek ngek ngek sounds coming from the seat belt.

And I suspect the thumping sound is from the board at the back which holds your speakers.
*
I sometimes noticed the sound from the seat belt too. Especially from the passenger's side. I often reach out to straighten it whilst I am driving. HEHE

My personal best fuel consumption yet. The bar started blinking at 605km. Usually 500+km already blinking.

Nice fuel economy!

I prefer to quote in km/L. When I refueled yesterday, I managed to clock in 16.6km/L.

The official numbers usually given by testing engineers is about 15.0km/L.

The 16.6km/L was from 80% constant speed driving 110-120km/h, and 20% slow moving behind lorries.

Wow...It's extremely low. How come mine is so bad? I usually drive at constant speed at around 140km/h at highway, but for City driving is around 60km/h or the max is 100km/h
*
Actually lah, I did try to drive 140kmh on the highway. When I refuel and calculate the mileage, very bad, around 13-14km/L only.

When city driving, try not to rev up the RPM above 4K. That's what I normally do.

I myself noticed quite significant fuel consumption improvement after switching to semi-synthetic during 10K routine service.

My car now clocks about 15K in mileage. Lately I notice nicer improvement in FC. Last night when I refuel, I managed to get 16.4km/L. Driving condition: local town driving (Kemaman, Kuantan).

Last week, drove on the highway with 4 passengers, bla bla, still managed above 15km/L. Quite happy with the performance.

Yeah, after 6 years of working, I managed to buy new Vios (G). I remember when I started working in 2002, many colleagues hold off their purchase of Proton Wira or Proton Waja, thinking of "AFTA 2005" would offer them cheaper price.

So, no need lah telling government tax the car, or AP king or what ever. US cars are damn cheap, yes, their petrol is @world market price, yes, cheap toll highway, yes, their average income is high, yes, and their income tax is about 30-40% of their annual income, yes. Go figure

MidBorneo,

since u mention 100% town driving, 10-11km/l is normal ...

atf, toyota service booklet said change every 40k and recommend to flush, however, if u choose not to flush, just change every 20k and use toyota atf only
*
Darn, I've never tried 100% city driving yet, sound scary to the engine smile.gif

Anyhow, my mixed town+highway driving always get me between 14.5km/l to 16km/l. Anything lower would make me think the car has some issues.

I calculated that using full synthetic only little bit more expensive than Semi one.

Full Sy. change every 10,000km, but Semi Sy. need to change every 5,000km (Eventhought can use up to 7,000km).  Its means that u hv to change oil filter (RM 2x.00) 2 times, go to the slow- action SC two times and charged expensive labor fee twice. (Time is considered $$$$ also).
Full Sy. also save a bit of fuel and giving a bit boost of engine power.

Err, where did you get that info? Semi-synthetic also can 10,000km service interval lor. Thus far, I've serviced my car for 10K, 20K and coming soon 30K. By using semi-synthetic only.

Guys, sorry to barge in the middle of "fire sale offers" of new Vios.

I own a 2008 Vios (yes, the dugong). I'm wondering if anyone face similar problem with the driver seat. It often shrieks (annoying sound) when going thru uneven road surface. The SC Kuantan attempted it once (they said they re-grease the seat railing) but the sound came back. I also DIY with normal grease lubricant but the sound comes back after 5-10 minutes of driving.

Any idea? It's not a major problem la, but it annoys the hell out of me (esp after buying a darn 84K car).

i think the sound coming from the seat belt beside driver.
*

I know it comes from the seat itself since I often slide forward / backward my seat, and the sound went away. After a moment of peaceful driving, the shrieking comes back. Arghh ..

QUOTE(kepalapening @ Jan 23 2009, 10:20 PM)
I got the S version bought in February 2008. Mileage at about 20K. Mine also produce the same sound. However, I don't know what the problem is. BTW, the sound will disappear once I step hard on the gas pedal.  vmad.gif

Cons about this car:
1. Bad remote control, or maybe the alarm system.
2. The shrieks sound.
3. Hard to close boot.

Apart from that, I think this car is not bad.
*

Your problem #2 & #3 are same like mine. The boot can easily be complained to the SC. In fact, I also had problem with the fuel door unable to open. Complain terus!

It is the seat belt rubber/plastic/fake-leather (I'm not sure what material it is) wrapping. It can happen on both front seat. Your only choice is:
Fold it up or,
tear it off or,
push it in front (i.e. lower it).

Since sliding the seat will temporary 'move' the seat belt (female head) position, the nyit nyat sound will come back after it naturally settled back on 'your' position.
Because of this simple noise, sometimes I'm planning to sell it off and get other car.
*

OK noted. Since my methods yield no results, perhaps I should try your theory. But I'm not too sure which part of the seat belt you're talking about and how to "fold / tear / push" it.

If you can describe the exact position, maybe I can attempt to do something. Lemme know.

Dear dstl1128, thanks man! You're really helping me to locate that 'thingy'.

QUOTE(MaUi^ @ Feb 3 2009, 10:51 AM)
Yeah, I got that sound too, and yes it come from the "thing" that hold a seat belt beside driver and front seat (seat belt lock?). I spray wd40 and tighten the nut, after that no more sound. You also can complain it in SC, its just 2 min job to fix it. Hope thats help.
*

Nahhh, the last service centre I went to was useless. It was in Kuantan btw. On Saturday, they said only open until 2pm (closed on Sundays much to my surprise). For my 11am appointment, the lady said they may not be able to attend to all my complaints. Didn't know what the labour charge of 2-hrs was for if my car was only attended right before they were to close at 2pm.

Naturally, the sound of the seat belt came back after 30 minutes I got my car from the service centre. Pretty awful if you ask me.

As in my case, the SC did not manage to resolve the problem. They said they "put lubricant" at certain places. When the sound came back on my journey back to Kemaman, I put some grease on the seat railing, again to no effect.

I guess the seat belt female head is the culprit then ..

Anyone change the front absorber before, mine i feel a little soft n each time i hit a bump, my front undercarriage has a very loud noise, seem to me that the absorber is to soft, any ideal vios owner, secondly wonder the vios absorber is using oil or gas for the front. Dont tell me i have too much pressure on the trye becos i follow the initial spec or sometime 1-2psi down.
*
I don't have problem in front. But my behind (right) side, I can hear soft clacking sound when moving at low speed. After trying with 3 different SCs, still not resolved.
