HI guys,

FYI, I wish to upgrade my laptop 512GB SSD into 1TB SSD. Already bought the MVME 1Tb and USB casing. I guess I need some software to duplicate

Can I know what software to move those 512GB SSD into new 1TB so I no need to reinstall OS and all the applications?

Or should I pass it to the shop? Is lowyat open? I mean maybe opening laptop to access SSD might be challenging?

Do hope you can share your experiences.

I use Macrium Reflect too, best tool ever.

If you are more technical can use Clonezilla.

Otherwise Macrium Reflect best, and free tier not restrictive unlike AOMEI and EaseUS

I tried Macrium Reflect but kept getting Error 9. I looked it up and basically it was bad sectors on my HD. rclxub.gif
But there's no solutions to bypass this problem.

I think I have similar problem by using clone function. So I backup my source disk into image and then restore the image to my new destination disk and it solve my problem. Maybe you can try my method.

If bad section, it is time to change new HDD to SSD.

If the data is at bad section area, normally it is very hard to clone over.

You can try run scandisk for fixing the bad sector 1st - sometimes it may make you unable to access your system at all later.

So for the most safer, you are encourage manual copying out all important information in that drive.
For install apps cannot copying out as it involved registry and some files may not place in the same location so manual copying out is normally won't work later.

After trying to clone my HD using AOMEI, it turned all my partitions into separate drives. T_T

End up I just did a fresh install using a Win10 boot USB.

AOMEI Backupper Free will do the job, it will automatically adjust the size too, very easy, just select source and destination, that's it.

Clone doesn't work 100%. I tested all cloning software when migrate from SATA IDE to SATA SSD on one of my Dell Latitude 3340. It works fine for my Dell Latitude E5430 but somehow on Latitude 3340 got issue. I scan hard drive but found no issue or bad sectors.

The only option working was backup into image file and restore on my new SATA SSD.

Could be a BIOS issue / bug probably. Been using AOMEI Backupper Free for many years so far so good from my experiences.

Updated BIOS also same. I don't think it has to do with BIOS or other motherboard drivers.

Is this a problem with branded machine?

I had self built PC at work which clone successfully with Macrium. However when I tried to clone a HP server, errors kept popping up until I gave up (not even HDD to SSD), just HDD to HDD. Gave up and used image like you mentioned and it worked on the 1st try. Weird.
