  1. Case: Silverstone Sugo SG01-W [Link] ±RM530
  2. Cooler: Silverstone NT-06 [Link] ±RM200 (with this cooler, u can go fanless --> add to more silent case)
  3. HDD: Any will do wink.gif
  4. Fans: Just get 80mm Cooler Master Normal/UV/Led fan (the most important hardware that determine your silent pc rolleyes.gif )

tips to add, if you opt for silent operation, try to avoid cases with bad air circulation, or small cases with barely enough air flow. You might want to go passive as much as possible, but where a fan is need, get larger fans, 120mm fans are always/most of the time less noisy than smaller ones.

Try to use all passive cooler would be very good option. However, Power supply do have a fan. Try to get lower power PSU but good one.

Personally, my opinion would suggest as below.

1. 1x Full Aluminium casing.
2. 1x Thermalright HR-01 (use rear casing fan plus a fan duct would be good enough.)
3. 1x Any passive cooler Display card or IGP solution also good.
4. 1x 450w High quality PSU.
5. 2x Noctua Fan (1 for intake, 1 for exhaust).
6. 1x Hard disk (Try Samsung Spinpoint) + Scythe silent hdd casing.
7. 1x SATA DVD Writer (Any brand that reputated for low noise. Unfortunately I don't know, any one can recommend.)
8. 1x CPU (AMD or Intel depends on your preference)
9. 1x Motherboard depends on Platform you choise but must with passive cooler.
10. 1x Memory kit.

Anything else? Mind to comment on my suggestion.

Nope with the assumption of the two hard disk (SATA & IDE) have the same specs except for their interface which one HDD is SATA & the other is IDE

but if one hdd has the spec of 7.2k rpm while the other one is 10k rpm (raptor) --> i dunno, never use a raptor before, no comment tongue.gif

For the 80mm fan, if you can try for 80mm coolermaster uv/led fan. (RM 15-RM22 -Depending on shop)

But if you want to save money on this fan, a normal ICUTE (RM 4)fan would do. What this fan does is spin at lower rpm than the normal fan thus sounds quieter.

LOL.WTF? Back to the topic, most of the time, the sound comes from fans especially from heatsink fan. Be picky when buying fans if u wan close to silence

1. What Case? - MICROFLY micro atx case ( good cooling with the 120mm fan at the back) available in the forums gargae sale or bulk section

2. What Cooler? - HR-01, scythe Ninja , Noctua , Coolink. ( use a good quality fan, a hsf is only as noisy as its fans. the heast sinks i mentioned are all design eto be able to run passive but can also be fitted with a slow speed fan for beter cooling)
i would also recomend the COOLER MASTER Aquagate MINI r120 that woul dgo well with the microfly, giving u a silent watercooled cpu for a cheap price..

3. What Silent HDD? - For silence i love the SaMsung hardrives.. teh are very silent and solidly buildt.. also prices are normally very cheap.

4. What gc? - Dont in anywauy buy the 8 series mid range cards now... they are extreme heat mongers... anyone that owns a gigabty 8600gt will atest to this... get a passive 7100gs with hdmi capability, and since its a htpc, i dont think ull be gamin much right?

5. Anything else? FANS FANS FANS>> tehse are teh main noise makers in ur system. i would recomenr the Sycthe MINIBEA series of fans.. btu since u did not put a budget , i cant really recomend those fans.. coz they cost around 80rm, and only available so far from USA, u cna get it in asia as well but would need to do some digging.

also ur psu.. best silence psu would be the Corsair Hx620, or teh seasonic m12 600watt... teh corsair is based on the m12 600 so they are techniically the same psu, but the corsair has a better llok to it... both these psu will not come cheap, and especially teh seasonic its kinda rare in malaysia.. and also since ur using a micro atx case, they are modular, giving u a easier time to do cable management...

also ur mobo.. i would buy those mobos that have heatpipes... u did not state ur system specs so ill be guess itll be a amd x2, if it is tehn the get those taht use the amd690 chipset, and replace teh stock coolers with hr-05 or noctua - u6....
