Hi sifuss. I am looking for a new laptop for running data (ETL) and light gaming. I have shortlisted a few models. Which model would be better choice? Any model has heating issue?

Guys wanna ask if the 11th gen intel still relevant if 12th gen out? got huge diff if my laptop is owes connected to power? thinking of upgrading my lenovo y520 to something like legion 5 with 3070.

i see lenovo legion 5 pro still no 12th gen one. but overpriced alienware those almost 10k for 3070 setup.. even dell g15 also need 8k dang. my budget max also 7+ more abit..

Lol tis maybe release mid 2022 i guess. Hopefully they retain the same screen which got good review. Wanna ask is current gen lenovo noisy? Cos my old y520 quite noisy when load.. altho some might say if background environment not silent is acceptable. If this 3070ti specs so exp maybe i might go SFF route, just lose out on the portability side tho. Reason prefer intel cpu is got thunderbolt4, so in future wan use the enclosure to upgrade gpu is an option.

Ah i see, the new g15 wont win beauty race but it looks like a value buy desktop replacement to me at 7299, if the noise arent too bad i think may consider. Cos my laptop also 2years at position no move already lol. Seeing that laptop 3070ti is abit faster than desktop 3070, i am ok with it since a built desktop SFF almost cost the same, probably just minus the fan noise when load.

Is this configuration good enough? Is there a major differece between 3060 and 3050? How about Intel vs AMD processor?

Looking for the following recommendations:

Budget: preferably less than 5k, but 6k is also doable
CPU: Alder Lake, or any octa-core Ryzen 5000 (not Lucienne) or Tiger Lake. Need these for work purposes.
GPU: Not important but a 3060/3050 is a bonus.
Screen: True 100% sRGB colours.
Other requirements: preferably one with dual SODIMM and at least 1 M2 slots for memory/SSD upgrades down the road. Below 2kg.
Usage: Work with some light gaming perhaps
Time: before Raya ideally.

Having SODIMM is secondary to my needs compared to a decent CPU and screen. If no SODIMM, what are the best options?

I was also looking at the Vivobook Pro 14. Seems solid overall too, from a non-gaming perspective, identical specs (albeit with 3050 max-q) + high res OLED at a lower price. Would that be a better buy overall?
