Why would it?

Unless you are using some special aircon or that socket ring circuit is already heavily under load constantly

If that guy is qualified, he would have given advised based on safety after inspection.

Seek another opinion if you think he is over charging.

Get the electrician to check your existing DB for the least load then transfer that load to the next lightest load..

Swap out the now spare mcb with a 20/32A rated for your new Aircon pt. and pull the new wiring..

Need to use a clamp on current meter which a competent electrician should have..

Ask the existing electrician to quote and also bring in another electrician for comparison..

Edit* Electrical guidelines req that Aircon pt. is dedicated wiring and cannot share with another Aircon or looped from another 13A SSO pt.
(The reason is due to the high starting current of aircon compressor motor thermostat control from the indoor unit)

combine some lighting mcb. usually using 10A which is overkill
then you have free slot for 20A for aircond.

yes.......that's the ideal scenario.

but in real world an inverter aircond compressor is soft start. and even in non-inverter the high starting current scenario isnt that bad when the run/start capacitor is in good shape/health.

Aiyo, just plug into normal 13A 3-pin socket will do. Normal 1hp is 4A only.

Damage = One 3-pin plug RM3 + 10 feet 3-core 2.5mm RM 40

Whoa. All that just for a new socket point? Can shift some wires and plug in the new one.

Currently my room only 1 socket. Using it to power my ac, 2 PCs, 1 router, 3 monitors and various chargers. So far been good. No problems at all. Sometimes I turn on all 3 also.. no problem. 😅

I have a quiz, if a power outlet does not connect the ground wire to the DB, can one connect the ground wire to any where else?

Answer is......NO!

Don't play with your life. Ground wire is for your safety if the connected device to that power outlet is faulty which leads to electrical leakage.

So play safe everyone. Life has no take two.

Its illegal and against the code to have 13A SSO without earth wire in the first place. tongue.gif
