I'm suddenly very interested in knowing the temperature of my nearly 8years+ (maybe more) 1st generation of p4 rig. Specs are as below on my siggy.

Recently I just clean the still running S478 heatsink and and applied new AS5 coating. However, the usual softwares like Speedfan, Everest cant detect the CPU temperature.

I'm wondering, does the 1st generation of P4 CPU equipped with CPU temperature sensor? if yes, do you guys know any old-school software that might help to detect CPU temp?

This is weird, all P3 and P4 onwards have a temp sensor built into the processor itself. Thats why they'll never die of overheating, even if you pull the HSF off it will autmatically shut off when it reaches a certain temp no matter what motherboard you use. I find it odd that even everest and speedfan can't detect the temp.
