Hello webmaster sifu,

I have recently transferred a new domain (domain2) into my existing host on serverfreaks.

Before installing wordpress on the new domain, my existing website on the existing domain (domain1) was loading fine.

However, after installing WP on the new domain with a couple of necessary plugins, I beginning to notice both website on domain1 & domain2 have certain loading speed fluctuations.

The loading of domain2 can sometimes take up to 20s to fully load the website.

Even on GTMetrix I get different rating regularly, the rating varies from D - F (which is bad enough).

I'm not sure but it does seem that after installing WP, loading xx.com/webmail, xx.com/cpanel are taking extra time as well.

My question tho is that is WP heavy on resources? Or is my hosting package's resources just not enough to function WP properly?

My host has:
1gb Physical Memory
1gb virtual memory

not sure bout the rest but 1gb mem is sufficient for me. unless you have a large site .
previously i had similar issues as well, page was slow loading, even google says my site has high load, then i migrated elsewhere. slightly better.
for some reason, i feel that it has something to do with either the theme or the plugins. i change from a custom theme back to the default one, site loads much faster but when i switch back to my custom theme, it's acting up again. so yeah, can be a few reason though. and.. some servers may not have the right php extensions installed which causing some rendering to be slower.

that's my thought la.

where is your wordpress db on? if its on the same vm/host, then you're probably overloaded. 1 site is fine, 2 might actually break the limit because mysql might just use up all the memory.

also, try to run a fresh second wp install, or switch to a default theme and disable all plugins to see if you still have the same issues.

Yeah that's what I thought too. I feel that my outdated plan is a little expensive too, I'm paying RM90 a year for 2gb of storage. So maybe might move or upgrade.

my WP db is hosting on the same host. site1 doesn't require much resources actually, its just a 1page html5 portfolio.

Its the WP on site2 that I'm concern about. Let me try with the fresh install of another WP and see. I'm actually trying to get hold of maybe a free web-host somewhere around and duplicate the WP onto that host, to see if the same issue happens.

are you running any caching for your pages? if not, then you might want to think about that. Otherwise, wordpress is hitting the db on every page load, and this easily can become very resource heavy on a 1GB machine.

Yeah I do, I'm running litespeed for caching, jet boost for css optimising, defer non-essential JS and smush to reduce image size.

Edit: Oh and I disabled wp-cron

is that too many to be running?

I'm not sure if this works but I've maxed out my memory limit on PHP settings to 1gb.

maxed out php memory limit to 1gb? don't you only have 1gb total for your entire vm?

128mb should be plenty already. If your php limit is higher then your available physical memory, your system will start to use swap space, which is slower, and will in turn slow down your entire site.

Yeah because my other domain only runs on HTML5.

Anyways, I have upgraded my server package and hopefully it will all work out fine now. :S
