Hi,

Can someone tell me if any of the cheat devices work with Modded Slim PS2? I have a Slim PS2 with ModBo mod chip implemented (bought it as that). I was wondering if purchasing cheat devices such as Armax, Gameshark etc. would work on my system or not. Officially in their FAQ, they say it won't because they don't support piracy (Maybe it's said because of law restrictions) and if it works, then you're lucky. But I would like to know it from someone who uses it to tell me whether it works for them or not.

Thanks

there is rumor said new ps2 slim can't use codebreaker i don't know is true or not but what i know ps2 fat & old version slim can use cb without problem.
if your ps2 is modded you need to find cb9.2 version that will work with Modded ps2 .

armax will work with modbo but beware a lot people report that armax will
corrupt memory card (that include me)

gameshark will work but lack of code support (for me)

but the best way to know is do try and error (shortcut make a lot problem & who do shortcut is a lazy person) doh.gif

I think u can use Codebreaker with slim PS2...but newer version of slim PS2 maybe got problem with usb+codebreaker. Mean u cant use pendrive to transfer savegame or cheat codes.

Maybe i'm wrong...

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not going to cheat through all the games cause that takes out the fun of playing. I've completed Resident Evil 4 and then only I found out I need to have 1,000,000 ptas to buy the Chicago TypeWriter. cry.gif Problem is I only have 300,000. I have to play the game throughout again and maybe a 3rd time to get that gun so that I can play Professional Level with that. unsure.gif I just want to skip doing that. So scenarios like that only I want to use it. thumbup.gif

I'll try to find the devices around in the shops. I'm new to Malaysia so don't know the places around. If anyone knows where I can find these stuff, please let me know.

my slim one works flawlessly with CB... even much more faster and easier than ARmax.. just download codes online.. and game saves also works well.

my CB doesn't work with USB, once I put usb in the console and switch it on, it'll hang.
no such problem with Armax
Though CB takes more types of code compare to ARmax, I prefer Armax though due to the compatibility with USB

I'm having a similar issue too. Managed 2 get CB working thanks to greyfox but couldn't upload any files fom usb 2 ps2. Do I need 2 format my usb thru ps2? I tried different usb pens to check compatibility issues.

1) PNY attache 2GB
2) Memorex U3 Traveldrive 512MB
3) Sandisk Cruzer U3 2GB

Didn't work with any. Is there any recommendation on which USB 2 buy??

     1. Check your drive. If you have any folders on the drive, back them up to your computer, delete them from your drive, and try again. On some drives, having folders on them seems to prevent the CodeBreaker from reading it correctly.
   2. Try reformatting the drive. CodeBreaker version 7 only supports FAT16 (a.k.a. just plain FAT). CodeBreaker version 8 and up supports FAT16, FAT12, and FAT32. FAT16 is a good catch all.
   3. You may have an incompatible drive. Check the compatibility list above. You may want to post asking if anyone has the same drive. Somebody else may know a trick to get it to work (some drives will only work if you hook up a powered hub, for example). If your USB drive is incompatible, there is nothing that can be done to make it work. A new CodeBreaker version may increase compatibility, but not necessarily, and the period between major versions is about 6-12 months. Your best bet is to exchange the drive for one that is known to be compatible.
   4. If you have the latest PS2 Slim Model (SCPH-75001 or higher): Sony has made some key modifications to this revision of the PS2. It seems that the changes they have made to the USB hardware have rendered the CodeBreaker's USB drivers inoperable. This is likely due to use of a newer and probably cheaper chipset. The change does not seem to effect software that uses Sony's USB drivers, but Pelican's home-brew drivers do not operate (Pelican cannot use Sony's drivers for legal reasons). A future version of the CodeBreaker will likely fix this problem. For now, there is no fix for this on your unit.

if your PS2 not Slim Model (SCPH-75001 or higher)
your problem may solve by insert usb pendrive after cb load .

Hi,

My model is SCPH-77006. I spoke with someone in the CMGSCCC Forum and I was informed about it's incompatibility with USB pen on CB. So I'm stuck with manually entering the codes. rclxub.gif However, even after entering, I didn't see the codes working. For example, I added Infinite Pesetas in Resident Evil 4 but that code didn't work cause I still have my old Pesetas amount. So I'm lost at the moment. Is it because my PS2 is modded or is it because of some other reasons??

Also, if anyone knows, what's the difference between Max and Infinite? I see both types of codes in Resident Evil 4 Codebreaker and I was confused as to which one is what. Does Max mean one time and Infinite mean many times?

FYI: I suspected it might be the U3 that is causing the problem so I bought a new Kingston 1GB USB pen. And I used uLaunchElf to transfer any files from USB to PS2 Memory. But any CB files won't work though.

yup the best way to tranfer save file is using uLaunchElf .

if you don't want to type the code ,try to update it using internet ,since your ps2 is slim just connect the ps2 to router and update day one using internet 'Its the world icon'

I was told by the seller that since my PS2 is modded, I wouldn't be able to connect to the net. Is that true? I never tried it. Do I need to allow any security for the router for me to setup the Internet?

My modchip is ModBo. Hope that helps.

Ok. I'll try to connect it tonight and see if it would work. I trusted the word of the guy I bought the PS2 and didn't test it before. Didn't want to get in the wrong side of the law especially in a foreign country. biggrin.gif

Anyways, thanks for the help. Will update if it works or not probably tonight or tomorrow
