For W plates, you'll need to go to Wangsa Maju JPJ. You can get the form there or from your car dealer.

Go round back of the JPJ building, there is a counter with TV screen attached to the wall. You can bid for a plate that is not open for the day, but it'll cost more. If the number you want is sold during the day of your visit, you can get it for RM350.00.

There is usually a queue, so go early.

Added on September 7, 2007, 11:19 amOn other thing, bring cash... and a black pen ...you'll need it. There is a post office that sells postal order (for payment to book the plate number) in Wangsa Maju JPJ but don't bother. Cash is easier. And don't talk to the runners, they'll convince you that you will need their help and charge you RM50 - RM100 for a few minute's work.

Generally yes...keep an eye on the website. Be ready when its WQM9XXX...the next day or a day after that the series will be WQNxx, WQNxxx, when you see this you can place booking already...no need to wait til WQN1xxx...it'll be too late then.

Usually, it takes 1 day to jump 1000 numbers (in KL or Selangor)....with exception to Wxx4xxx series, which is slower and Wxx8xxx series which usually takes less than 1 day to run out...

if you want specific no. let say xxx676 WITH CONDITION that the no. u're up to was not bid by anyone (just check the bid result at the notice board at JPJ), you may just go and see the pengarah jpj for that centre, or you may just talk to his/her secretary
it works for me, twice, just fill in the bid form from counter, give your IC copy and ur phone no., thats all if i not mistaken, just like normal procedure
in about 1 week they'll call you back, if not call and ask them.. usually u'll get the no., then go back there to get the confirmation form and just pay the amount that u stated on your form

if you kenal that jpj officer or got kaki, then it'll be much easier tongue.gif

Just some question...currently the number is running at WQU xxxx...coming is WQV

so before they finish WQU, if I wan WQV, i have to bid a number rite?

If i wan the current WQU which is ady open for open-booking, i do not need to bid for the number I wan (provided it is not taken)...just go there and book the number..correct?

Coz from wat i heard, the JPJ will put out a list of numbers that is not being taken/bid yet

yes bro, u can get the new number but u have to buy a another new vehicle to put the old number e.g motorcycle or etc. so the new number goes to ur secondhand car & the old number goes to the new motorcycle(example). because 1 vehicle can only have 1 number only....... this what that the usedcar dealer told me... n i think this can be done... rclxms.gif

Hi, I want to buy a number for my car. Just wondering if i plan to do it myself and i go to JPJ counter, will they show me the list of available car registration number?? So that easier for me to choose the number i like? unsure.gif

Because if not, then i have to go through the numbers that i want one-by-one with the officer. rclxub.gif
"1234 got? dont have"
4321 got? dont have"
5678 ada? ........" doh.gif

Anybody got experience with this? hmm.gif

Looks like we're on the same wavelength. rclxms.gif Yes. U can have Perlis plate. I just got RK18x on 23 Dec 2011. I will tell you my procedure.
I called JPJ Perlis (049760122) and spoke to Zamree. He's the officer in charge for the Nombor Pendaftaran. Told him the number that i wanted and if available just ask him to keep temporarily. Currently is RJ (already 18months on road) and RK(latest-haven't seen on road yet) is also available to choose. Booked my number but he don't allow permanent booking. Which is i need to go JPJ Perlis within 2 or 3 days to settle the payment and sign the document. 23 Dec night 10pm drove to Perlis. Made a stop in Ipoh to rest a while. Then continue journey. Reach JPJ Arau Perlis at 830am. Met the officer, signed the documents and pay the cash. Got the receipt came back to KL. Journey thru and flow took almost 16-17 hours. Drove slowly without speeding. At speed limit 90-110km/h. Then with your new car documents and the receipt u send back to JPJ Perlis for the road tax to be made. The road tax will be post back to u and u give your car salesman and he will "gao tim" for you with the new car. Then u just collect your car few days later with your desired Perlis plate.
This sounded crazy i know. Haha.. But that's what i've done. I heard got runner do but i'm not sure where to find and how much they charge. If Malacca or Ipoh still ok la.. Perlis is almost Thailand already... biggrin.gif
If u need any directions i can tell u... smile.gif

Catch is, now I gotta wait for WWY to appear as now still only WWX.

Are G1M plates only available at the G1M company?

Don't need to go through JPJ?

I think you can. Cuz I bought my car from Kuantan but using KL plate no. Just go to the jpj branch of that particular state. For Wxx is JPJ wangsa maju. Other than that idk. You can check at jpj portal. http://portal.jpj.gov.my/

Hi guys,

I wanna get a Kedah plate number.. But I'm living in KL..
Specific number, but it's all different numbers
KDH8291
Have no car new now, but planning to get one soon..

Running number is now KDG already..
So am afraid the number will "hilang" soon..

Anyone have any suggestions?

KDH is upcoming number, which u said current is KDG. There are 2 methods of buying numbers:
1. Tender. Each state JPJ will announce the date for their UPCOMING alphabet tender open and closing date. U can check from the jpj website or call the respective state jpj for the dates. In this method, u need to fill in the tender form, and bid the price for the number u wanted. And attached along at least 50% of the tender price in wang pos att to Pengarah JPJ. Once, the tender close, the officer will open the all the bid letters, and award each number to highest bidder. Note that there is minimum bid for the number(single digit, double digit and so). Those failed bids, or lower bids will get the returned wang pos. Those who won will get a confirmation letter, which will be asked to settle the balance and informed of the expiry date for the number.

2. Buy straight from counter. This is easy part, where u just go to the main/hq of the state jpj. There is a counter where the CURRENT running number is sold. Meaning, the tender bidders will get the opportunity first, and the remaining numbers which have no bidders, will be left to the counter for sales. On the spot, if the number is available, jsut pay and get the confirmation letter and resit. Normally, in sngor case, there will be a board where all the available numbers is listed, updated daily. Normal numbers will be RM210. Some nombor kahwin like 2211 or 4433, in some instances, the counter officer will ask u to meet the boss privately, and nego the price. Not sure if this is ISO, but its in our culture, if u know what i mean. biggrin.gif

U definitely need to go to the respective state jpj for registration. Means, if buy kedah plate, must go kedah jpj to register. Car from where dont care. The expiry date can be extended, but troublesome, coz need to gojpj and meet the officer and explain why and so..

this kinda number definitely, u will not have exact answer. Coz it will fall into tender bidders, definitely. So up to u to bid the price, but u can alwiz looked into bidding history and see the rought estimation. And different state have different standard. Like wilayah, will have higher price for 333 compare to kedah plate for 333.

p/s : unless, u got cable.

and, also. If those want super cun numbers but lazy to go all this tender, can alwiz flip motor traders mags, there are many runners that sell the numbers. THey won the bid, thru tender or cables dunno, but they sell nice plates, at a cost.

i just bought my new registration number yesterday from jpj perak.
just to share my thoughts, if you have specific interested number, i would advice you to fill in the tender form before tender closing date with minimum tender amount RM300 (advisable above RM350 to have higher chances to get your desire number, also depends on the popularity of the number).
If you missed the tender closing date to tender, you can still try your luck to buy your desire number from the counter. Again, you will have higher luck if the running alphabet is just released and the running number is just 2 or 3 digits (Example AJG xxx) or at least 1xxx or 2xxx. Then you will have more numbers to choose from.
Prepared a list of desired numbers (10-20 numbers) and give it to the counter to check if they are available or ask them to give you a list of hot numbers to choose from (normally it's higher than RM210, RM300 or above). Choose your number and pay accordingly. Fill in a form (which you can get from the counter), give your IC (No need driving license or booking order because you can keep this number for 30-days without registering it to a vehicle). Voila... you can complete the whole process in less than 30 minutes without any help from the runners.

It is possible to buy a old plate number?
Previously my friend's agent helped him to take the same number but different alphabet for him to choose.
I went to the JPJ to check the number and the number not yet registered onto any vehicle yet.

So is it possible to get it?

hi guys, i bought a car plate number last week at JPJ wangsa maju...
Hope someone can clarify my doubts

- fill up to application form
- take queue number
- pass the form at counter
- tell the car number i want to buy at counter
- pay RM210 at counter
- getting back my application form and smaller paper with JPJ printed wording as picture below

I recalled why IC copy no required during the registration.
So i return back to office and ask the reception whether require to submit IC copy and JPJ staff say no need.

Here my following questions
1. does it means i still safe to secure my number as JPJ not pre-register the ownership of car number under my name?
2. I just require to pass over the printed forms only as above to car agent for car plate registration? JPJ will identify the ownership of car number who carrying the printed forms?
3. does it means it transferable to other people as JPJ not pre-register the ownership of car number?

subsale: need a new vehicle (motorcycle pun boleh) to park the new no. u just go ask any moto selling shop (not repair wan) and ask them to do for you at a cost ~200-300

recon: newly arrvied recond (import/AP) you can just put the new plate no. since it's considered as new registered

this is from experience buying father's car

I heard that there is different in price for the same no at different jpj office.
Eg:Bxx1234 if u buy at PJ jpj office is actually more expensive than u buy at Klang jpj office.

Anyone can confirm that?

Guys,

I have a few questions. I'm planning on getting number WXXXXH, but currently I do not own or planning to buy new vehicle in the near future. (Within a year, at least). Am I able to do so? If yes how? If it is a no, any tricks to beat the system?

Thanks.

I paid rm450 to SA for his runner to booked the number in July. But as of today haven't get the car yet. And I think of want to get new latest car plate but SA said the earlier car plate was booked and is belong to me. Nothing much he can do. Is that true that I can't change anymore? And there is still valid after for so long there is no chassis and etc to attached the car plate I booked? Kindly advise. Thank you.

as long as the vehicle is not registered with the registration number, you can still register with another number of your choice. You will have to forfeit the money paid for the previous number it is was paid.

you have to wait till the particular registration prefix is open for tender. Since you are looking for 2 digit numbers, for sure have to tender.
