So I have upgraded my unifi downstairs to 100mbps.

Problem is, my room upstairs cannot seem to detect the 5G version of the connection.

Can anyone recommend a decent wifi extender?

*the line only able to be detected by my 5G phone, and not my Mi Box/ Laptop.

Or is there another device that I should have gotten?

How big is your house? Where do you put your router?

Sometimes you only need to reposition your router to get better coverage. I only need a single router for my 20x70 double storey house.

I have tested Totolink EXT1200 extenders. Cost RM115 back then. It works. But you can only choose to extend either 2.4ghz or 5ghz channel only. Its coverage is about the same as a basic router Wifi by itself. It cannot do well at 3rd floor.

Recently got chance to try out TENDA NOVA MW3 2 pack. This one coverage really good even on 3rd floor house. It is also dual channel. Speed seems to be lower once it got connected to the 2nd unit. But signal strength is high. This one cost about RM200 more or less. My friend asked me to test configure this set because he could not get it working in his house. End up found he plugged in to Unifi IPTV port that did not get the correct settings from router to work. 😂

If you subscribed to UniFi, you should be able to subscribe the additional mesh for RM15/month for 24 months.

That's what I did and my house have no more dead zones.
