Just seal off windows and doors.
Got money then do double layer window pane.

These panels are for echo reduction.

I'm thinking to get those insulation panels to stick on my wall to reduce the noise generate from nearby highway.

Checked with one seller on Lazada. Unfortunately, the reply was as follow:
Our products are mainly aimed at indoor noise. They are used in music rooms and meeting rooms to reduce sound transmission and improve sound quality. The effect of reducing outdoor noise is not obvious.

Tumpang tanya, what is the best solution to cope with constant sound from outside traffic, it is really bothering as I can hear the 'shhh shhh shaaa shaaa' sound all day even at late night

Tried closing up the windows but it doesn't really help. Also don't feel like closing the window as there will be no air circulation / natural ventilation.

Thanks

Is yours landed or high rise?
The comfort noise level is 40dB and below.
If high rise, the only thing can be done is change to double glazed window especially assymetric type or with vacuum air gap. The workmanship is important too, especially frame seals/insulation.
Using heavy curtain may help a little bit.
If landed you can add solid barrier and screening.

Hi, I'm staying in a condo which overlooks onto the busy highway. Will consider the double glazed window if my budget permits. Will check out and update further, thanks

local market for double glazing is very expensive.
I know some friends who recently completed house renovation, using china supplier found from alibaba website.
Said to be "a lot cheaper" even with shipping.
However you need to factor in local installation cost.
So far feedback was that "it helped with sound insulation for swing doors but not sliding door". Which may be detailing issue or due to gap. Delivery can be done either by supplier or buyer. You can even do door to door service. Or if you have contact to handle freight forwarder side then only pay shipment to warehouse. Any question, the supplier can help answer. If you need contact just PM me.

Start planning your move.

Meanwhile have cancelling noise inside your unit to distract your ears focus..... a water fountain or non stop background radio or music.

Why you bought/stay there at the first place? Complain to Majlis...

change your windows... very expensive.. small windows cost about RM5000. I asked before and the result is good.. 60% at least.

I think it still costs me cheaper to upgrade the window panels than to make my move, as I yet to find out which is the 'nice' place to stay. Would appreciate if you could recommend me a condo unit which fulfil my criteria such as within 15km to KL&PJ, 'low' density (not more than 10units / floor or 350units in the development), 'quiet' environment, unit at least 1000sf, preferably freehold but not necessarily & could be currently procured with less than RM400/sf 😅. FYI, all I have listed were the criteria that had been fulfilled back in 10 years ago when I bought the unit for own stay. The 'quiet' doesn't need to be no sound at all, dogs barking, ad hoc strong exhaust bike sound from motorcycle, sound of people quarelling from the neighborhood, thunder like firecrackers sound during count downs are all acceptable, but not the constant 'shhh shhh shaa shaaa'

If you could predict what will happen in the future I will salute you. If I had the choice, I'd move, pls recommend a location that fulfills all of the criteria listed above.

Not sure how you can then 'eliminate' or reduce the noise after upgrading the window panels.

Sacrificing ventilation for noise or vice versa ?
