so far no complaints from me regarding the touch.

its been pretty good to me, acceptable battery life, perfect screen quality, and like lordsapt mentioned earlier, it definately turns heads.

the reason why its been commented by some people that the touch constantly sucks out its battery life is probably because it looks the same when its locked and switched off. most new users would assume that the touch is off as soon as it goes into its powersaver mode.

as for the wi-fi, its definately user friendly with only having to input a secured wireless network's key once and it'll auto-connect by itself and store the settings so you won't have to keep 'hunting' for the password.

imo, the main thing its missing would probably be a speaker. watching youtube on it is interesting and hassle-free but its no use sharing videos with a group of friends unless you've got multi-earphones. tongue.gif

definately going to jailbreak my touch,

those who've gone through it - anything i should know before trying to do it? and it'll be great for more tutorials on how to do this properly. smile.gif

for those who are too damn lazy to look for the post by stringfellow, ive copied it for you guys:

"A very time-consuming tasks, but achievable. Twice i screwed up Springboard/Summerboard modification/patch, in the end, had to resort to restoring twice, and doing the manual copy via logging on the iPod Touch's Wifi IP address via FTP. Then you have to change the permission of EVERY SINGLE FILE you FTPed into the Touch to the "0755" Octal value, a couple of reboots (turn off, NOT SLEEP!), and im done.

Managed to get Mail, Notes, Calendar (with editable entries!), Weather, Maps, as well as Stocks.app , which is privy previously to iPhone only, running happily on the iPod Touch. ApolloIM and TONS of other Summerboard themes as well, and you can see, Nemo and Marlin says hi!

All this needed the files that are copied over during installation, to be marked with the specific permission Octal value "0755". Click on "Properties" when you selected a particular file in your chosen FTP/SSH client (CuteFTP, WinSCP, etc) and make the necessary adjustments. This need to be done since most of the programs appearing on AppTapp/Installer.app are made for iPhone and they still carry the "0644" Octal value. Some of these programs will play nice with iPod Touch, while others will absolutely refuse to work at all, unless you change its Octal value. And some may even refuse to load at all, and boot you off to Spring/Summerboard.

The compatibility list of what's working on iPod Touch and what's not can be found @ http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/wiki/index.ph...n_Compatibility

How to start jailbreaking into iPod Touch using the 1-click Windows solution, using the TIFF exploit , can be found @ http://tech.blorge.com/Structure:%20/2007/...ndows-solution/

How to install iPhone apps (Weather, Stock, Notes, MobileMail and Maps) guide can be found @ http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1659

At the moment, i DO NOT recommend newbies to try this, it is pretty time-consuming, and the results may vary. Like i said, i've gone through two Restores before making it right, so if you do go forward with this, do it cautiously. Im here for any questions if anyone have them."

the front doesnt really need a protector, its been tested and proven that its totally scratch-proof. as always, its only the trademark ipod back cover which gives you the problems. smile.gif

lol how can it be 'waste-ish' to have more applications at your disposal? im sure you'll think otherwise if/when you get one. rolleyes.gif

perhaps, i should just buy this ipod touch when im heading back to malaysia. Apparently $419 comes with absolutely nothing else with it, and i reckon the authorized apple reseller in Malaysia will bundle SOMETHING with it
*
better to purchase from australia and claim the 7% gst. either way $419 still comes up to a cheaper price compared to the RM1350 in kl. at least thats what i did. smile.gif

head to any authorised apple dealer and they would be able to help you in regards to any warranty issues. smile.gif
