i believe most iPod users just charge it via USB cable. the adapter is so expensive IMHO. even the 3rd party premium ones (the original one is super steep price) is not that cheap. it is kinda silly that the original adapter plug can costs hundred.
btw u can try look at TradeZone > Music And Audio Accessories. look for morgan's thread. i believe he still sells the 3rd party chargers.

if wanna made sure just check the charger with the official logo "Made for iPod". maybe u can check the Morgan's offerings and then google for its official website. look if it is certified as "Made for iPod". i forgot the name of chargers he is selling, so i can't check. hehehe...
btw if u wanna the official stuff, just head to apple premium resellers here (Machines, Epicentre, etc. etc., i've never shop at their retail stores before actually) and check the price of iPod adapter. and yes it will cost a bomb, but u can rest assure of your warranty.

as of the original Apple USB charger, power rating is 110V-240V. u can change the adapter's head if u got the traveller's kit. btw there are also 3rd party travellers charger for iPod, but it is quite expensive.
