Anyone have being approached by bank on credit card credit limit increase but to provide income documents ?

How come nowadays income documents are needed for limit increase "request"... Based on past experience, some bank will usually inform you once they increase your limit instead of they asking if you want increased limit or not.. and this one with income statements lagi... bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

Sometimes they increase your limit based on your historical data and spending style.

I personally believe in increasing spending limits, just for emergencies.

Some bank just increase the limit.. only then inform you the limit is increased... without asking for documents.. It sounds to me like they are collecting personal data...

last minute data collecting before for this ? :

A good paymaster for 3 years doesnt meant he is a good future paymaster.

Precovid, many good paymasters became defaulters during covid.

This changes from bank to bank, and from time to time. Also tied to your personal credit history. Not much we can do about it. One day bank A will be fussy, next day bank B will buat hal.

Increased limit is of no use if cc holder dont use it. There is a danger the limit can be fully used if card is hack.

Better option .....

1. Request for temp increase for emergency spending. Also subject to approval.

2. Pay off used limit b4 statement date.

3. Have 2 to 3 cards with lower limit instead of 1 card with high limit.

Logically, if one income is 10k per month, limit should be 10k as that is the max the person can spend every month.

TBH credit card is not meant to be used for emergencies.

If you don't have the cash for the emergency and credit card is your only alternative then you're falling into the debt trap that will be extremely hard to recover.

Emergencies here is not emergency to buy iPhone or something. My angle is medical emergencies, both local and abroad (if you are traveling).

If you or your loved ones need to get medical help, just sign off dulu.

credit card use as cash alternative.. i.e not credit function.. but instead using cash to pay use credit card (medium)

for credit card limit increase ; they have to inform you ; as the risk is on your side if over spend as well...

as for documents to justify ; its either bank policy ; or you dont have enough 'rating' to justify the auto approval

Fair point, my bad - haven't thought about oversea medical expenses. Can swipe first and claim insurance later, so not necessarily need cash.

hi guys, i just get my first ever cc from Maybank 2 gold, Credit limit 7k.
If i wanna buy a 5k electronic appliances and make as 24 months installment. The bank will deducted 5k from my CL then i left only 2k to spend?
Considering the credit utilisation: 5k/7k x100%=71%, will this affect my credit score since the utilisation ratio is quite high.
