Hi,

Currently, I am working as an account in a small company for more than 5 years. I have learn some data analysis using programming. My skill is not at the pro level, probably beginner level.

I would like to get a new job relate to data analysis at entry level. Is it good to join global business services type company or commercial company, depend on job availability? I saw some job posts and some even it is stated an entry level job still require N years of experience and with many type of programming and tools. I heard that GBS will have a buddy to guide you but maybe will need to work at odd hours. Not sure is it true.

I am willing to heard some of your opinion.

Learn Tableau (at beginning level)

Do you suggest go to GBS or commercial is a good starting point?

shouldn't matter what industry you start with, just need to think how you'll get into it.
i'm personally in the financial services and semicon space for pretty much all my career, so if you have questions on those industries, i'll try my best to answer.
ps. not familiar with commercial banking, only experience in investment banking (but not front office sad.gif )

Apologies if off-topic.
Mind if I ask where and how do you learn and practice using these software? Is it only available through work experiences? The license is quite costly that even in a department, few light users had to share one. Do people actually subscribe the license for personal learning and use?

Through working experiences. My previous organization is a MNC investment bank, and they introduced these tools.
I was the automation guy working on their backoffice processes, so I was trained.

Now in my current org, they don't have RPA or Alteryx. I'm trying to push these things out, as I really see a lot of value in these tools.
And training the ops people will make them more marketable also.

Ops processes are getting more and more automated now, so I'd recommend to upskill yourself smile.gif

automation anywhere. I think RPA can still go a long way.
I'm also going for uipath certification as well, on top of my aa cert.

Is it hard to learn for non-IT background person? Any programming language needed?

no coding required. But of course, if you have a programming background, you can use its features to the fullest extent.
especially in uipath, where the selectors might be a little tricky for non-programming people, its good if you know vbscript.

even with alteryx, it has jupyter notebook installed, which is an IDE for python.
if you want to use alteryx to the fullest level, python programming can help you stand out from the pack.

Get the community license which is free and select the StudioX profile which doesn't require coding.

The other 2 profiles Studio Pro and Studio are more advanced catered for coding with options for VB.NET or C#. You may slowly want to explore some VB.NET coding too like me when I first started doing RPA though I did study IT.
