Recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor for my personal laptop. When i connect the monitor to the laptop with the included hdmi cable, i couldn't select to drive the monitor with GPU and i cant select 144hz refresh rate.
I tried to select performance mode in the nvidia control panel as suggested by many on the internet but still cant connect the monitor to the gpu. It is always using the integrated graphics instead.
I also tried to update the drivers but no luck.

I am using acer aspire 15 with MX250 gpu in it.

I believe the HDMI port is not HDMI 2.0. Get yourself a DP cable and connect your laptop to the monitor. By the way, your laptop have DP port?

The new trend as we can see was you can link your Windows 10 and Windows 11 license to your Microsoft Account. Once you replace your hardware and reformatted your computer, upon login to the Microsoft Account it will retrieve it back for you. So you don't have to manually key in and do activation by yourself. Very convenient to us end user.

Internal GPU using it?

Yes, AMD APU which has a integrated Radeon graphics shares some memory directly from the RAM to provide a “shared VRAM” feature. You can adjust it but it will also impact if you run any 3D games that required more GPU memory then it would apparently crash occasionally or not run-able or lagging. Since you have 12GB RAM, allocate 2GB or 4GB for the integrated Radeon graphics is strongly recommended. Most Windows application is working fine with 8GB RAM without causing any slow performance on your computer. Unless you are running on Adobe Premiere Pro or Autodesk AutoCAD application.
