Recently bought a 1440p 144hz monitor for my personal laptop. When i connect the monitor to the laptop with the included hdmi cable, i couldn't select to drive the monitor with GPU and i cant select 144hz refresh rate.
I tried to select performance mode in the nvidia control panel as suggested by many on the internet but still cant connect the monitor to the gpu. It is always using the integrated graphics instead.
I also tried to update the drivers but no luck.
I am using acer aspire 15 with MX250 gpu in it.
If your laptop only came with HDMI 1.4, you can't drive 1440p in 144hz.
Normally to drive 144hz in 1440p, DP is required or HDMI 2.0 and above.
Also it is always drive by iGPU for Windows, the Nvidia only kick in when you gaming or using apps required it or you set to it.
This had nothing to do with Windows 11 as it is also same in Windows 10.
