QUOTE(Marcion @ Jan 3 2025, 06:12 PM) its common, even it does happen in my 23H2 sometimes .. maybe some temporary updates are not cleared automatically when the new similar update files arrive 24H2 is far more buggy, so I just remain in 23H2 .. |

23H2 vs 24H2
Windows 11 24H2 Vs 23H2 In-Place Upgrade Performance In 2025, Some Super Surprising Results Back when Windows 11 launched in 2021, Microsoft, as with any other company, wanted to hype people up about its new product. One aspect which the company focused on was suggesting that users would get better performance on 11 as the OS was designed to get the best out of their hardware. This was a bit of an ironic statement considering Microsoft introduced upgraded system requirements for its new operating system and, to this day, as it recently clarified, has stuck to it. After the promise of better performance fell mostly flat, a couple of months later in November 2021, Microsoft devs promised that improving the overall snappiness of the various UI elements in the OS was its main focus in 2022. A year and a half later, in May of 2023, Microsoft published a blog post highlighting all the improvements that it had made till then, although third-party testing from a few months prior suggested no notable improvements. Testing Microsoft's claim in the past in both scenarios, an in-place upgrade and clean installation. Interestingly, we did find Windows 11 to be faster in some scenarios, although nowhere near the margin of what Microsoft wants you to believe by making up ridiculous performance claims using paid studies, for example. Besides Windows 10 vs 11, the performance differences between the versions of Windows 11 too are something worth looking at. As such, we decided to see what a user going from feature update 23H2 to 24H2 would experience. For a clear progression, Windows 11 24H2 has to perform at least somewhat better, and some users do claim that is indeed the case even when running unsupported systems. Unlike last time, our test would not just be straight-up apples-to-apples comparisons here. We are trying to replicate the usage of a general user and as such, all settings would be kept at default. This is how we will be evaluating the performance differentials for an in-place upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 from 23H2. Read more https://www.neowin.net/reviews/windows-11-2...rising-results/ |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « could probably auto assigned by system, its not recommended to delete / move it since if will affect Windows Update .. mine is about 900MB and still remains at the end of the partition ![]() |

Waited for 24H2 autoatic upgrade, but never happened .. so I planned to upgrade manually ia original ISO to see whatsa with the 24H2 that many people are complaining about .. yes WordPad is dead now
No new applications (except DevHome which later I uninstalled it) added since I did in-place upgrade 23H2 to 24H2 manually .. Let's investigate the 24H2 issue and problems Will remove later all foreign languages except en-GB and en-US .. because those are taking up spaces unncecessarily, Defender & Securit Health permanently removed, including Edge SmartScreen feature ![]() OS Compression 1.4:1 ![]() Partitions (Remains as previous 23H2) ![]() Provisioned Appx Currently Installed (After Removal Certain Unneeded Stuffs) ![]() Other Aplications ![]() Re-Enable LEgacy Boot Menu (Easy GUI) ![]() |
