I wondering if these 3rd part customized Windows OS is safe to use, although alot said you should not but these customized OS really gooding for old low end computer, especially from Windows X-lite

as for home use, I personally feel safe and never bother anything .. but never tried "LITE" version till to date, most of my online forum friends from US, UK and other parts of the west countries are using LITE versions .. they all commented good an positive feedbacks ..

I am using full featured ISO from Microsoft (23H2) build to date 22631.4169 (but I did my own customisation after installation), even though my laptop is very old (15yrs, 1st Gen i3, 4GB RAM, running OS on MBR partition and not TPM compatible) .. I never feel any lags to the system ..

done 22631.4249 .. but dunno wats the retail user's update

how the RAM usage when idle, no open any program with 4GB?
mine windows 11 when 16GB, idle about 4.0-4.4GB
now 32GB idle about 5.5GB

usually I will just let open Edge (around 4 tabs), Notepad++, Telegram .. and Edge sometimes 6 to 7 tabs but after use will close, same goes to Whatsapp App, I only open Whatsapp when notification came in, other than that will just close ..

I just feel fine while using, not lagging ..

Windows 11 2024 Update 24H2 (build 26100) is available from now, gradually to its users..

I won't update it now at first tho

I have not updated it, some users reported the Sep's updates brought them BSOD and crashed some drivers

Anyway, how can we disable the windows updates until i turn it on manually?

mine seems fine, no issue on September (Tuesday updates, which we usually get only after Friday) ..

turn off as long as you like .. max 5 weeks

when file explorer update show on taskbar like this?
normally don say file explorer at the end

For Win11 Pro, try this method, check "Enabled" put "Windows 11" and "24H2" in Options

If you'are using Home edition thus Group Policy editor is not available,

On the registry
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windowsupdate (Create a new key Windowsupdate if it does not exist)

On Windowsupdate
> create new string value with a name ProductVersion, set the value to Windows 11
> create another string value with the name TargetReleaseVersionInfo, set the value to 24H2.
> create a DWORD with a name TargetReleaseVersion set the value to 1.

how long 24H2 will be available if not force update?

Personally I am satisfied with current releases of 23H2, especially the latest patch October build 22631.4249 .. 24H2 is long way to go as I believe they will include CoPilot+ especially for ARM devices, 24H2 is best suits for testers (BETA/CANARY) according to MDL forum, there are many builders and testers over there ..
