it's probably broken
edge indeed still running on background no matter what setting i use
*
Some site suggest use taskkill command as desktop shortcut, click to kill it
Tested edge working normaly, no any problem

some of them are cache, it's better to leave them alone
otherwise Esge will keep write to your SSD, in turn your SSD TBW will increase very fast = premature death  sweat.gif

I have tested, the larger the folder content .. the slower Edge is, so I just delete it (except Cookies & Passwords) ..

btw, I'm on HDD blush.gif

True, Edge still runs on the background even after closing browser manually / choosing not to run at background .. unless terminate manually via Task Manager smile.gif

So is better to leave it ON for "startup boost" and "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" ?

Now seem does nothing, before this if On, edge will running background, now On Off edge still keep running
If use long time enough, will use up over 500MB RAM,
and win 11 explorer memory still does not release after close all window
Mean got 2 windows built in program hogging memory resource

if you use edge regularly, just leave the setting alone,
for now it's broken lol

and it only consume 800MB, for a fast system with 8GB ram, NVMe SSD and properly configured paging file, it should not causing much issue.
My working tablet only have 8GB ram i have no issue running chrome, edge , outlook and vscode.

Edge probably would be killed by task manager or pushed to page file when ram is not enough.

Windows OS is very bloated since Windows 8, with tons of background services, and then UI still shit, tons of legacy system app hiding under new UI...

their job is to create new UI and a little bit changes then publish as new OS sweat.gif sweat.gif

trust me, the good old control panel will still exist until Windows 20
microsoft most products are good except their OS.

yes, even current Windows 11 is not "actually' a Windows 11 .. basically everything derived from Windows 10 with some UI touch ups

This update addresses an issue that affects File Explorer windows. When you do not expect them, they appear in the foreground.
