This comment quite interesting. If take the following scenario:
- EPF start from zero at 25 yrs old
- Working Years: 35 years (from 25 - 60 yrs old)
- Monthly Salary: RM4,000 all the way (assume all crap employer)
- Monthly EPF contribution: RM920 (11% employee and 12% employer)
- EPF annual interest rate: 5%

I put this all into the moneychimp compound calculator here and it spits out RM1mil at 60 yrs old. So it's quite doable, yea? Janji dun take out anything from EPF in the 35 years.

why would the interest compound 12 time annually? EPF is annual dividend payout, right?

My wife and I both M40 kuli, both of us are on track to have RM1mil in EPF between 50-55 years old depending on bonus and increment %

With no kids, no debt, unlimited lifetime limit medical card means we can retire very comfortably with RM1mil each in our EPF + RM1mil investment portfolio in stocks and ETF

How the hell u manage to get 20k passive income?

Rental income?  How many properties you holding

Properties yes. But not physical properties. Return on physical properties is too low in Msia. Plus not worth the tenant hassle.

SREITs.

SREITs? These are Real Estate Investment Trust listed on stock exchanges.
They pay a pretty dividend from the rentals of properties that they own. Or you own through your share holdings.

1 mil leave in epf or any generating interest
calculation:
1 mil = 5%@ rm50k per year rm4k per month passive .... this money can leave it to compound interest (A)

1 mil to spend ... assumption no interest (B)

i million bahagi 12 months bahagi 20 years = rm4166 per month
so easy to retire with such amount
emergency can use the funds from A to tambah.

I am in SG REITs, Malaysian. There are some in Malaysia. But SG has more diverse types.

Go read the thread in the link. There are many seasoned investors there.
