Have you realized that all the e-commerce companies are from Singapore? Carousell, Qoo10, Lazada, Shopee, Zalora etc. Why?

I know Indonesia has Tokopedia, but they don't seem to be influential or even well-known outside of Indonesia. Meanwhile companies such as Shopee are present even in countries outside of Asia. It's like they are trying to compete with Amazon as an alternative in the long-term.

Should Malaysia also have an e-commerce company just to serve our interests, both as customers and sellers? Why rely on Singaporean companies? All we're doing is propping up their fintech economy at our expense.

Because it is easier to setup company there then here. No need to give away that much.

Because its easier to get start up financing there. You pitch a good idea and people will invest.

Pitch a good idea in malaysia amd people will say property is better, or ask for ponzi game 'guaranteed returns'.

Because Shopee was only created in 2015...in such a short space of time they grew so big. It's still not over yet for Malaysian companies if they keep dilly-dallying.

Easier to setup private and go listed there.

All meritocracy. You competent? Money will reward you.

Grab wanted to list in msia but guess what the bumi said? They want some portion! Of course they will go to Singapore and HK.

The “protek” / quota mindset (for funding) is killing our startup ecosystem

Temasek be like “yes, good idea, come to SG and we will fund you”

Those coupons/discount.
It was the same strategy for grab.
Now you ever wonder where they get the money to give all those free rides etc?
