Hi. I'm looking into subscribing data plan for my parent. At the moment they already have unifi at home. Being old and tech illiterate, I plan to get unlimited package to avoid any disruption in case they overuse data/calls. As you know it's tough trying to troubleshoot their phone problem via the phone So any suggestion on cheapest and least hassle service provider? Thanks.

I subscribed hotlink unlimited prepaid for my parent. The cons is it is a prepaid so every month needed to reload https://www.hotlink.com.my/en/plan/mobile-internet-pass/

you mentioned your parents already using Unifi at home right? maybe can consider taking up their Rm59 unlimited mobile plan when you link home internet with mobile plan together.
Support wise i assume all operators are the same.. all failed.

Yep, my parent house don’t have internet, so for my parent, having an unlimited internet is crucial I subscribed the rm 45 plan for them. So they can stream YouTube whole day or video call me

The thing that made my parent cancel all mobile subscription was because many times, over and over again, kena scam RM2.50 SMS (prepaid) or Internet Purchase (postpaid) daily. My parents dunno how to check all this one. Just know how to make calls.
After report, kena again after a few months. And you won't get back your money.

why not just take the cheapest postpaid plan eg: Digi postpaid 40 or just go the prepaid route.

Take something thats under postpaid less hassle on needing to topup/repurchase plans. Plus you can over pay at first no need to think for half a year

Erm, I don’t mind paying the rm10 extra for them to stream YouTube smoothly. I understand how frustration I will be when my YouTube keep on buffering. Video call so far ok in 6mbps . Smooth Anyone using 3mbps can give us some insight?

And the best part is that, this can do remote control (purchase pass, check validity, reload) all via the web selfcare portal also

I agree that better to check is the simcard access to 4G, cause if is 3G even unlimited also the line is slow then later parent complain why so slow

QUOTE(kimsun @ Jun 17 2021, 07:59 PM) Wait isn't that everyone is using 4G now? Then it should be the telco problem, I don't think have something to do with the 3 or 4G Telco are now slowly shutting down 3G therefore better switch 4G for better internet experience also Celcom now is giving free simcard and phone
