I was in so called elite high school, 10/20 of my friend are successful doctor, engineer, lawyer and professional career

I’m the odd one, didn’t complete my university, dropped out

Am I consider myself successful? Not really, just earn enough and be happy

How much I earn if you may ask… T20 in Malaysia standard, but on international just B40

While the average student with 3As and a bunch of Bs is the owner of a soon to be public listed company with a valuation of over 300 million.

I see a lot of cases where the smart A student end up working for the C student and taking orders from the B student in middle management.
*
how many C student and B student successfully built up their businesses to be able to hire smart A student?

you're overlooking the 99% of C student and B student that's doing foodpanda and got nowhere with their C and B

Alot of school dropouts who became successful actually dropped out from good schools.

Bill Gates dropped out from Harvard.

Not every school dropout is the same.

Told my kids if they drop out from Ivy League or Oxbridge, long queue of VCs will put their moneies in.
*
Not necessarily la .. if they dropout because can't cope with those schools leh
Like those charsiew with connections , pay their way to enter ivy League and dropout

Yeah but female doctors are empowered individuals who don't have to depend on lustful members of the patriarchy.

I attended government school for my secondary school - which sucked because there weren't international schools where I was. Parents were actually thinking of moving to bigger city so I could attend private school but that didn't happened. Ironically, after I graduated from secondary school, my parents eventually moved lol. I hated my government school and would never, ever send my kids there. That's another topic to talk about, but not here.

I did SPM and got 9A+ 1A. Before you think I studied everyday, I did not. I don't know really. Maybe I'm a little talented but that's a bit boastful of me.

Anyway before I even got my SPM results, I left Malaysia for US and has been there ever since. Got myself into an undergrad ivy league school, then I did grad school.

I work in a FANG company now, but don't see myself here for long.

I make 13K USD per month as compensation (salary+bonuses), and I'm <25 years old. If you think that's successful for my age, then yeah I guess I did decent. But really, every FANG engineer makes as much money as me anyway, so there's nothing to be proud of.

It's just a cert for you to go to higher learning. Question is, continue form 6, ask for scholarship, go private or public education, or just go out work?

Don't waste your time in MLM's ,

study hard, fight to get into corporate ladder, or go overseas to broaden your world view

at the end of the day , white collar job ain't that bad.

not everybody dedikasi to open big business on the fly

Truer words have never been spoken.. lol

I see many are poisoned by rich dad poor dad book

On average, those who excelled in studies went in to MNCs and got rich or above average rich through salary alone

Whereas those who were bad at school comfort themselves with the 1 or 2 super successful big boss..by and large , they lose by a mile in life

If soc med was a thing back in my time there will be alot of tears. UPU in the mid 90s shunted top scorers who couldn't get matriculation into Form 6. This was back in the aggregate system time. I cannot remember if the lowest possible was 6 or 8 but these types got Form 6 in my school. 15s (average score) however got placement in pre University of public universities

initially i thot thats the case until i compiled some figures about my SPM classmates.

The A grade students tend to hv higher pay after 10 years than the B n C students. Most of them are professionals.

Of coz, the richest student is a C grade student who became a businessman.

But he is the only 1 who succeeeded. The rest of C grade students who became bizmen are barely making enough to survive.

Just my SPM class.

successful actually depend on how you define success, even in these 4 pages there already different definition of success, chairman, T20, greencard, nasa etc..etc. Thus individually everyone is different.

problems for malaysia is that success as defined by malays are very-very low compared to nons. Many are contented to be in M40 and receiving tongkat here and there.

with DEB etc. the goalpost has been shifted a bit as instead of starting from rural B40 (parents) they started from suburban M40 which have better awareness on the need for material wealth. but the progress have been very-very slow.

Again the socio-cultural makeup of the 70% of the population are the reason why Malaysia is still inching instead of accelerating toward our goal to be a developed nation.
