I downloaded Returnal on my PS5 in less than an hour with a 300Mbps connection.

During lockdown nowadays, my kids will be watching a movie streaming on full 4k in the cinema room, while I play fortnight online and my wife doing video conferencing for work. The 300Mbps connection remains stable.

A internet user dont understand how internet works.
give you 1Gbps also useless.

You upgrade your bandwidth = Whole universe upgrade together?

If Lowyet.net server is slow, you still slow
If Facebook server is slow, you still slow.

If you connecting to EU Server, you still feel lag.

Even Download from free website, you still slow.

upgrade from 1mbps to 10mbps speed up your loading time from 10 seconds to 1 second
upgrade from 10mbps to 100mbps speed up your loading time from 1 second to 0.1 second
upgrade from 100mbps to 300mbps speed up your loading time from 1 second to 0.03 second

technically once you had enough, more no longer matter

100mbps sufficient for streaming video.

however to download recent games, require alot of time. if 300mbps, can download 1/3 of the time.

also to consider about upload speed

I'm on 300 mbps and I can reach that number in speedtest but not in real world application. Youtube and Twitch still occasionally stutters at 1080p and my ping to SG server has been 170ms the past 2 weeks. Downloading files is fast though.

Honestly 300mbps is nothing if you download large files nowadays. Games can easily be around 30-100gb takes a few hours to finish downloading.

i don't understand the obsession with high internet speeds. I am a power user and i only use basic 30 mbps service. Good enough to stream 4k youtube videos + multiple videos simultaneously. No problems whatsoever with multiple zoom meetings and videos running concurrently.

They key is your router. Invest in a quality router. If you router cost RM150, then expect poor performance but if your router RM1000, then naturally the performance is better la.

Then you need to know how far you are from your router if you use Wifi. Even 10m away from router starts to be too far and you get some spinning wheels once you start to stream 4k videos.

ISP Free router is rubbish even in both wired and wifi mode. The cheap processor inside was not designed to handle the high traffic and multiple users. You can keep that as a spare in case your main router fails.

You can try to connect a wired LAN connection to your router to see if you still have problems. If LAN is okay then problem is with Wifi not your internet service.

Different people , different need

I am using mid tier ASUS router also got this kind of result, if stock router surely much more worse than this.

300Mbps sub . on LAN

but in my case I suspect the local connection is congested. before this can easily get 200Mbps and above

don't use mobile data to compare to fiber optic, it's 2 completely different world

mobile data speed good or not really depends which area u stay and where do u stay in that area
some area, i ran speed test alone can do 60Mbps...my area?...3-4Mbps

Me using TIME even at 100mbps last time feel way way way waaayyyyy better then when using Unifi at the same speed.

So to me, yeah, 100mbps is better than lower speed internet, but TIME 100mbps is way better than unifi 100mbps.

It is very subjective. Some area that are congested might not see such speed during peak hours and if u r staying near a business or industrial area, u might be able to have a sustainable speed accross hours. But not in a dense residential area where everyone is chipping bit of the bandwidth together.

Typically 100Mbps per user is enough unless you're downloading/torrenting all the time.

I use 300mbps, house got 4 person use. Feel really no difference than 100mbps, watch video also no need buffer when 100mbps, only thing I feel is download, but then 100mbps also faste enough already, you can do other things while downloading.

Actually my problem is playing PS4 game using iPad in sharing screen apps. My family occupied the TV all the time during FMCO.

When I play game at iPad, it keep disconnect and lag like shit. My family and myself hardly download. My parent are watching Astro (no internet consumption) my brother they all only use Social media apps and sometime YouTube.

Upgraded to 100mbps thought enough for family of 5. My house only one laptop which for children study with teacher. The rest are Astro and sometime social media.

I believe I am the only one consume internet usage more than them.

Speedtest.net : It local/global test server. From here you can test against another provider as well. maxis, tm, u mobile and etc. even global network too.

fast.com : its Netflix backbone network to support Malaysia/Worldwide. What i know their server located at Penang and Kuala Lumpur for Malaysia. If living in another countries or connected via VPN, it'll select nearby netflix server.

If you really want something closed to your actual speed. I recommended using https://www.nperf.com/en/ and select U mobile. Since this company has 10Gb/s dedicated network for testing.

I'm on 800Mbps with more than 14 devices connected during testing.

i am using B618 with unifi air sim card currently

at my place, the speed is kinda piss poor with slow latency & upload speed.

am considering to apply unifi 30mbps because that's my max budget...

Feeling want to upgrade 300mbps.

go straight to 1Gbps if you can afford it. I'm on 500mb, best. watch 4k netflix almost instant. 3-4 PC on zoom call + watch netflix also no problem

i start using unifi from 5mbps era then keep upgrade speed until now at 800mbps.

after 100 mbps there's difference in download speed but doesn't impact my usual usage experience. if people steal my wifi i don't think i will realise.

nowadays i'm more focused on latency (ping, jitter) as this is essential to online meeting experience

If we're to subscribe for Unifi, if there is any contract we need to tie up with TM? I might want to try the 800mbps first n see weather the speed will be reliable and will not drop to 50% during peak hours, only then i will consider to continue the subscription. It is not fair for us consumer to be present with less than 50% of the stated speed during peak hours since we're not some nocturnal to be active during night time.

Actually, this result kinda good already if u compared wif me. My house barely within unifi air coverage but after using B618, now i can watch 2k video during peak hours while previously using DLink router, 8mbps was a luxury already n most of the time Utube stuck at 480p res only. Averagely, my internut speed will revolve around 20mbps ~ 30mbps during peak hours, thanks to B618 powderful antenna and the is the best buy eva eventhough ive snapped the modem early this year thus cost me around RM900. No regret.
