He actually just look at a frame of the incident from what I see in a talk show. Lol. He shud be watching the replay frame by frame. Not just judge based on 1 frame.

It is a natural body movement / reflex. When u block a shot, u will try to move forward trying to block the shot. And also extend ur body as big as possible.

The ball hits his thigh, then went to his arm. A natural instinct is to reflect the ball away with his arm then.

Sadly this is the rules nowadays. Whether ball to hand or hand to ball, as long as in the box, it's penalty.

But the red card is really tough to take. In a game this big, a more experience official will probably gives a yellow first. If this is the ref that officiated the CL final, he would definitely just give a yellow.
