http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20070904PD209.htmlQUOTE Due to continued demand, particularly from Internet cafe and emerging markets, for AGP-based products, Nvidia is scheduled to launch an updated bridge chip which supports the company's newer GPUs in October, according to sources at graphics card makers.
Nvidia's BR02 chip was designed to convert the company's PCI Express-based GeForce 7600 (G73) GPU to support AGP, however, this chip is not compatible with GeForce 8 series GPUs. A new version, A05, will work with current GeForce 8600 (G86) and 8400 (G84) GPUs and well as the upcoming G92 and G98, noted the sources.

It will be bottlenecked by the CPU. I personally think the 7 series is the max they should release for AGP.

Wayy too little, wayy too late (Winter 2007 for mass market penetration), wayy too pricey, I predict. People are just staying to their 1950 Pros or 7600s. Or in the lamest case, get the current 2400/2600 AGPs.
Rialto as a bridge chip always felt more consistent serving all product ranges.

I am still using AGP graphic card.So I am supporting this idea. But I dont think many will buy this cards because of the huge price difference between AGP and PCI-e cards. There almost 100-200 price difference between same graphic card using same chipset.

AGP USER HERE FEELS FLAMED! Of course its a good thing to release more GCs into the AGP platform. Currently AGP platform is stuck with so little choices of GCs compared to PCIe. Plus the price of the same card is about 40% more for AGP compared to PCIe. If a Series 8 GC exists, like the users said; the GC will be extremely bottlenecked. AGP slot transfer rate also 8X (8X means half of PCIe 16X? Can compare directly?) and already going obsolete that latest mobos dont even come with it anymore. Plus AGP cards does not support SLI or Crossfire or Nukeblaster whatever dual GC mode... So wont have ultimate gaming power even with the support available on the GC's processor...

I don't think bottleneck really occur , most AGP cards variant are mid end . The new version only support up to 8600/8400 , not the 8800s . While G92 and G98 with AGP variant , I doubt the higher end only .

Didn't there a news about the updated version of pcie slot? 2.0 or 3.0 I forgot?

QUOTE(X.E.D @ Sep 5 2007, 05:13 PM) 7800GS was already bottlenecked to death. 8600GT = or > 7800GS. A clawhammer at 2.4~2.6Ghz is pretty adequate for the card , agree with the performance though . Added on September 5, 2007, 5:39 pmAnd I'm still running 1.8Ghz single core A64 with x1900GT . I can play fine at 60FPS , 80FPS and above is not necessary . Bottleneck is very subjective though , but often time , in higher resolution and AA , it's not really that significant . This post has been edited by Breaktru: Sep 5 2007, 05:40 PM

what is the max cpu speed u can get on agp platform?
there is no point upgrading to 8xxx series on agp as most of the time, the cpu is the bottleneck and not the card...
