 Sabah elections confirms 3rd Covid-19 wave, (It led to what it is today....)

Pilihan raya negeri (PRN) Sabah pada tahun lalu telah mencetuskan jangkaan 2,979 kes Covid-19 pada minggu pertama ia berakhir, menurut satu kajian baru yang diterbitkan Khamis lalu.

Ia merangkumi 70 peratus kes baru yang dilaporkan di negeri itu antara 26 September (hari mengundi) sehingga 12 Oktober, ketika kerajaan mula menguatkuasakan perintah kawalan pergerakan bersyarat (PKPB) di Sabah dan beberapa negeri lain.

Bilangan kes berbea mengikut daerah. Antara daerah dengan kes tertinggi adalah Semporna (95.7 peratus), Tawau (79.5 peratus) dan Lahad Datu (96.7 peratus).

Di luar Sabah, kajian itu menganggarkan 64.4 peratus kes baru ketika tempoh itu boleh dikaitkan dengan kesan limpahan daripada PRN itu, dengan tambahan 1,741 kes.

Ini menjadikan sejumlah 4,720 kes di seluruh negara berkaitan PRN itu.

Kebanyakan kes dilaporkan di kawasan bandar di semenanjung seperti daerah Petaling, Kuala Lumpur dan Johor, tetapi kesemua 114 daerah di luar Sabah yang ada kes Covid-19 ketika itu mengalami kesan limpahan pada takat tertentu.

"Kami menunjukkan yang anggaran kami ini bukan disebabkan tren sedia ada, usaha pemantauan dan/atau dasar pencegahan. Anggaran ini menunjukkan kemungkinan perhimpunan ramai di satu kawasan 'melimpah' kepada penularan di seluruh negara.

"Maka pelonggaran sekatan perhimpunan ramai perlu dipertimbang secara cermat, walaupun ketika jangkitan komuniti yang rendah dan penguatkuasaan garis panduan penjarakan yang selamat," menurut penulis kajian itu.

Kajian itu berdasarkan pemodelan komputer trend Covid-19 di Malaysia dari 22 Mac hingga 12 Oktober - iaitu ketika sehari sebelum bermulanya PKPB di Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor dan Sabah.

Kajian itu dibuat oleh satu kumpulan yang kebanyakan anggotanya di Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health Universiti Kebangsaan Singapura. Ia bertujuan menjadikan PRN Sabah sebagai kajian kes bagi menaksir bagaimana perhimpunan ramai boleh menyebabkan penularan Covid-19.

Kajian itu diterbitkan di jurnal PLOS Computational Biology.

Penularan besar

Kajian itu menyatakan sejak 10 Jun hingga hari mengundi pada 26 September tahun lalu, terdapat hanya sekitar 16 kes baru sehari di Malaysia.

Bagaimanapun, 17 hari selepas itu - iaitu selepas PRN hingga penguatkuasaan PKPB - ia meningkat kepada 190 kes sehari, dengan kira-kira 154 kes dilaporkan di Sabah.

PRN Sabah diadakan selepas bekas ketua menterinya Musa Aman cuba menjatuhkan kerajaan negeri menerusi peralihan sokongan Adun pada 29 Julai 2020.

Ketua menteri ketika itu, Shafie Apdal kemudian membuarkan DUN. Ia menggagalkan usaha itu dan membuka jalan untuk PRN diadakan.

Memetik laporan di media, kajian itu menyatakan risiko Covid-19 di Sabah pada mulanya rendah, dibantu dengan kadar pematuhan prosedur operasi standard - seperti pemakaian pelitup muka, penjarakan fizikal dan pemeriksaan suhu - yang tinggi.

Bagaimanapun, perkumpulan tanpa had di kawasan terbuka dan had 250 orang di kawasan tertutup, telah meningkatkan risiko jangkitan.

"Selain itu, kadar pematuhan penjarakan (fizikal) yang selamat dan pemakaian pelitup muka adalah rendah di kalangan ahli politik, rombongan mereka dan hadirin perhimpunan.

"Walaupun dasar diubah dengan cepat, dengan mengehadkan 30 peserta untuk ceramah politik, kadar jangkitan yang tinggi wabak ini serta peningkatan risiko penularan sudah memadai untuk menyebabkan peningatakn kes pasca-PRN di dalam negeri," kata kajian itu.

Ditambah dengan perjalanan rentas negeri susulan PRN dan penangguhan usaha mengekang penularan, ia menyebabkan mereka yang kembali dari Sabah mencetuskan penularan baru di negeri lain.

Terdahulu, Perdana Menteri Muhyiddin Yassin mengakui kaitan antara kegiatan kempen di Sabah dengan gelombang ketiga penularan Covid-19 di Malaysia, yang berterusan sehingga hari ini.

Kerajaan kemudian mengisytiharkan darurat di beberapa tempat bagi menangguhkan pilihan raya kecil. Ia disusuli dengan darurat di seluruh negara bermula 11 Januari lalu.

Semalam, kerajaan mengumumkan penguatkuasaan penutupan penuh - atau 'total lockdown' - di seluruh negara selama dua minggu bermula Selasa ini.

Mmg salah sabah election. But who cause it. Not shafie. It’s his opponent. So blame shafie opponent and the frog too.

Have to protect shafie coz everytime say sabah, sure ppl tembak him although it’s not his fault.

They talking about root caused not blaming sabahan. Sabahan only follow those in power instructions which is health ministry & election commission. They all give green light.

ELECTION DID NOT CAUSE THE THIRD WAVE!!!!

Many countries held there election in the last year and did not experience any major outbreak.

it's the SOP double standard enforcement and post election no quarantine requirement and uncontrolled movement of people that causes it.

After CNY time, cases fall because SOP was followed. We did our part, and it was hitting only 3 digits by beginning of April.

When turn for "Puak Hak Kami" to do their part during start of Ramadan.... they gave 2 fingers and went YOLO.

But hey, it was easy to blame Genting..... isnt it?
