That meets the condition of a title challenge and an improvement from last season. You can never have a squad to say you can be certain of winning a title. An element of luck is also required.
Can we really say we are better than City who won the title last season, and are about to splash 70M on Grealish and 150M on Kane? We have to respect the other teams.
Title challenge. UCL semis. And a trophy win from either Carabao or FA.
Previous season he had Lindelof who he had to cover and no real RW in front of him. Now AWB has Varane as his CB partner, with Sancho ahead of him at RW. The Varane influence is bigger than Sancho here. Luke Shaw has Maguire to cover his side, and Varane will do the same for AWB.
AWB should no longer tuck in to protect the CB like Lindelof. How many times last season was AWB asked to pickup the striker ghosting behind Lindelof. This dampens his attacking output. With Varane, I am expecting AWB to be told to push higher up the pitch and make space for Sancho.
I can already hear Varane if AWB starts tucking in to protect him :
"Oi Ole, WTF is this kid standing beside me holding my hand?? You taking the piss out of me? I won 4x UCL, more than you. Now get this kid up the right flank instead of standing around in my position. I got this."
