My dad is still subscribe to streamyx and its terrible, No fibre coverage in my area so Unifi air is the only option as of right now. There 5-6 devices in the house, I use quite a bit of internet to game but don't download stuff often but I'm not sure about others. So is Unifi Air good to game with or just light browsing.

To me, the issue with Unifi Air is its upload speed.

At best you'll get around 7Mbps for upload and imaging sharing that upload speed of7Mbps with multiple concurrent devices.

For example WhatsApp chat backup, imaging 50MB backup files need to be sync to server, all other devices unable to send request (page requesting) until the backup is completed. Then whole house become “why the internet not responding”.

Also, it’s home internet. People don’t use internet just for leisure purpose only.

Depends on the price you paid for StreamyX.

My office used to run on StreamyX 1Mbps for RM99 and it was hell. Even when they boost the speed to 2Mbps, it is still too slow. Then I used my personal name to register for Unifi Air and I wished I had done it earlier. I would at least get 17-2x Mbps for download while upload still remain below 2Mbps. It is still quite usable and sometimes the accounting software firm used remote desktop to access our server to make changes and I could see that the response time was much better than StreamyX by miles.

Our area do have fiber but it was not accessible to my office since my boss built this place adjacent to the main street where Unifi was available. TM was crazy enough to quote a 10K++ fees to lay fiber few hundreds metre of fiber cable.

make sure under coverage. map long time not update. use bebas and look for band 40
force band 40 for high speed. or just buy modem router without band 5.
band 38 is rare
parabolic grid antenna may help
point to the right tower with cellmapper help
speed test with bebas without *unlimited lte* plan. A few speed test will finish daily free 1GB

Speaking on experience with Unifi Bebas since I use it as one of our wireless BB.
Where I live, its frequently on Band 5. Annoyingly once in a while it jumps to 3G, luckily I don't have any 3G quota.

But when it's on Band 40 then it goes more than 3Mbps.
For YouTube and Viu it's fine even on Band 5.
But for Zoom and Google Meet in my area, can be buffering sometimes.

So yeah, again depends on area. Overall I'm still pleased with the service despite the downsides I listed.

speed depend of many factor including but not limit to
- strong b38 b40 signal not band 5 ya.
- stable connection. not keep jumping band or switching tower
- less abused tower with many streaming user. me not download just stream 4k video only
- the tower itself
- your device
