Tham is a highly recommend Luthier here in our board.
He's work and finish is excellent, and very knowledgeable.

DO NOT give Bentley your pride and joy though. Had quite a few horror stories from that.

Also, if you can catch him, the guitar "hospital" in SMX in Times Square is also very good.

Tham is the man you're looking for. He's got very good workmanship, attention to details etc. ...and plus, his workroom looks damn pro, climate-controlled and all...

Holy crap,a Malaccan who has a Gibson,woot!
Anyway,you can try going to Daniel's in Melaka Raya,I sent my guitar to him for servicing,and I'm satisfied with his work.

+1

Sent my RG for a setup back when i was a noob, came back just the same with not much difference. The only thing he did was add another spring for the trem, which i could have just did myself, except i thought there was more to it at that time.

Worse part, he charged me RM150. I was like crazy mad and was arguing with him. He told me he redid the wiring and all that. What on earth could be wrong with the wiring on a brand new guitar?! It sounded perfect, no hums or anything. Then he reduced the price to RM100 and told me not to come back. As if i'm going to anyway.

Trust me dude, if you own a Gibson LP, you're better off sending it to Tham, but dun be surprised if he charges around RM200-RM300, that's the professional rate in KL, and since you own an LP you should pay the professionals. I wouldn't recommend sending it to Daniels though, like I said before it's and LP, anyone can setup a guitar, but it takes a pro to set it up good and proper. There's also another place you can try, Guitar Collection (or was that Guitar Store) in Hartamas, look for this guy called Fadzly. Personally, I haven't sent it to him before, but I've heard a lot of good feedback from guys who have.

Cheers;
Chris.

Yeah... Fadzly setup my Epi LP and installed the EMG 81/85 for me. VERY good job, plus he added in a battery holder for no extra cost!

All together about RM150 for the installation of the EMGs and change the setup to accommodate the thicker strings I added in (The ZW Heavy Boomers, what else?? .60 gauge is NOTHING to be messed around with)....

fixing strings also they overcharge, a buddy of mine wanted to send his ibanez pgm in to have the strings changed, he didn't know how to do it because it had a floating trem and we all know how time consuming that can be, and they wanted to charge him 60-80 bucks just to change strings, i mean, what kinda bollocks.

Bro, i think you're mistaken there's, one is the PGM3, and the other the PGM301, and the sad part of the PGM3, the new PGM3 are fitted with the EdgeIII bridge but the other one's were fitted with the ILT1 bridge and that's a real bullshit bridge. It's damn unstable. In short, do not buy the PGM3, save up and get the PGM301. Hehe. cool.gif
