Hello guys. I'm looking for a used 2015 Toyota Camry 2.5 Hybrid in Kuching, Sarawak, if the location is matter, Is there something I should consider for buying a used hybrid cars such as battery replacement of used hybrids, warranty, financials and maintenance of used hybrids? And what are some other tips for buying a used hybrids? Thanks guys

The hybrid battery is proven reliable.

If not mistaken the link you post is from oversea. If the weather is cooler, usually the battery life can be longer.
This cant be the same especially with our hot & humid weather.

Battery is not a major concern nowadays. The concern is after warranty parts like A/C pump, power steering rack, converter and a lot of other sensor will fail and all these are not cheap to replace new unless you getting it all from half-cut then will be another story.

Not really. Based on actual users input in the Camry Hybrid FB group, some ppl battery even fail at 7+,000km. But average is around 120,000kms.

Camry Hybrid is a very reliable hybrid car. You have to know for hybrid, there are parts that have it's wear and tear like the battery, inverter and so on. Battery is without a doubt something that need to be changed depending on usage. Price is getting lower and more workshops specializing in hybrids now.

If you are getting used, make absolutely sure to ask when was the battery last changed. If it's just changed recently then you are good to go. I am not sure if Camry Hybrids also have 8 years unlimited mileage for it's battery warranty. Call Toyota SC and ask for service records and mileage. They will not have problem giving you the information.

Update: BTW, please still do your due diligence when buying used car. If the car was not properly maintained, it can still end up being a bad purchase.

Ts, you might want to check Toyota Topmark, as far as i remember they are certified pre owned, and also come with official Toyota warranty, seems like there is a branch in Kuching

iinm there is few shops that doing a battery refurbish service for hybrid cars, i mean at peninsular. being a hybrid battery, the battery will call for replacement after it time.

so to save money, find this refurbished battery service or 2nd, just prepare for the battery price (new) when it time call.

Agreed. Can give Topmark a try. They only take in well looked after cars and those fully serviced at UMW, even though high mileage and slightly higher price, definitely better than used car dealers who will charge extra on top of the price.

Not an expert. Camry hybrid does really have a nice price used. Its tempting.

But generally, i think for hybrid, the battery is not the biggest issue. Especially toyota with the reliability and prices going down. At least you know the price and expectancy.

What i know is other parts are also different in a hybrid and replacing them cost a bomb. Like the aircon parts, etc.

If you are planning to get those from West Malaysia, be careful as lots of them are used as Genting Taxi. Make sure to check the car's background.

i don't coz those concerns are what make me worries.
but my next car going to be a 2nd hand. at least that's the plan.

I thought I could trust carsome when they started to sell to consumer direct.
but my fren sold his prius to carsome with major issue, they didn't discover during inspection.
that kinda dampen down my expectation of them.
maybe those they just accept and sell to 2nd hand car dealer la..only better one they sell themselves.

Never trust used car dealers even carsome. Always get a friend who knows about cars or pomen along to help check.
