I just got my u700 today, how do I remove the maxis 3g button?

Does anyone of your phone's silver coating chipped off? Mine chipped off near the sensor area.

I'm not the only user that is suffering paint drop, singapore and taiwan sets are also suffering this problem. Samsung is looking into it now and in taiwan they already provide free casing change.

Today I brought my phone to samsung service center to claim warranty regarding the chipped paint. They are going to change the casing for me free(since it is under warranty) but it will take 1 - 2 working day though. I'm satisfied with their service and hopefully when I get the phone, it will look like a brand new phone.

Btw, you can ask them to remove the Maxis 3G button also, they did it for me. I'll update when I get my phone back.

Usually it does ring if you set it correctly. Did you set P.M. instead of A.M.? or maybe your alarm ringtone makes you even want to sleep?

Oh sorry, forgotten to update. They just changed the upper casing for me free. Took them 2 days though.

Actually it depends on luck. Some get lousy paint quality, some get better paint quality.

You just got ripped off, I think handphone shops only selling RM1300+/- for a new set with free 1GB Micro SD. Although there is no free bluetooth headset, maybe you can get a better headset for the RM300.

New set = RM1499. After 2 weeks already RM1000. 1 month+ phone value dropped to RM800.

Samsung really no re-sale value.

srsly, this phone is so screwed up. whoever is planning to buy this phone, i advise you to reconsider another phone.

today i brought the phone to service again. no sound, display distorted, cant send/receive sms/calls, always hang, paint peeled off and many more.

this is even worst than maintaining a proton car, headache to the max.

woohoo, i've finally know how to increase the volume already.. anybody wants to know how to ring their ringtones louder?

yea using so-called secret menu, aka service menu.. at least u can set the loudness that u wan..

Follow the steps below to increase your U700 speaker. I will not be liable for any damages to your phone and changing the default settings may void your warranty.

My U700 have the latest software version, U700DZHB1 (Feb. 2008), for other versions I have no idea whether it works. Update it at the nearest samsung service centre.

1) Type *#0002*28346#
2) It will bring up a menu:
[1] Load Params
[2] Dump Params
[3] Call Config

3) Press Back, and it will bring up another longer menu
4) Key in 3 to bring up SPK Config Menu
5) Then key in 4 to bring up AV-QTune(MP3) menu
6) Key in 1 to bring up SPK MP3 Vol. menu
7) Key in 6 to change the max. volume
8) Input 40 and press OK, it will change to 4.0db default max. volume is -3db. I wouldn't recommend higher than 6.0db because the sound will distort, anything lower will be fine.
9) Once done, press cancel to close the service menu and try to play a mp3 with max. volume. This volume apply for your MP3 Ringtones and Message tones.

Note: If you restart your phone, your settings will be changed to default.

Tell me whether it works for you guys, questions are welcomed just don't screw up your phone.

There's some update on the user interface but can't remember what is it, just a minor one. Unfortunately, it still hangs sometimes when I type sms then want to access phonebook to add contacts. You have to pay for the update service if your phone is not under FMG warranty, not much though, maybe below RM50? not too sure.

1.0db is just nice and loud, higher than 2.0db will start to distort already. Glad that you guys can enjoy loud musics and ringtones now. But remember that every time you restart your phone, the default settings will overwrite it.

Same problem like mine last time, so pissed off during that time. Screen distort, restart phone then screen blank, then cannot on the phone, people call me but I cant hear them, difficulties sending smses, etc etc etc.

make sure you cut your fingernails if u use this phone.. ur nails can scratch the wheel and the keypad.. u700 got screen protector, juz go hp shop and ask, around rm10 per piece..

New blue plastic film? that one must change the whole housing to get it. without it is nicer ma

sigh, my samsung is giving me problems again, my upper slider buttons sometimes doesnt respond. sent to fmg for service and they quoted me rm340 for repairs. need to change the upper slider components and flexi cable.

maintaining samsung is like maintaining a proton car, it looks good at first then it gives you hell lotsa problem later on. anyone knows where i can get this phone fixed at a cheaper price?
