Chincillas...
I have a few questions out of curiousity.... #1. Where do you get the safe wood to build the cage & as a chewing/gnawing post? #2. Pumice stones. Is it the same ones used to smooth out the rough skin on the heel of our legs? #3. Can they chew on those wood chews made for hamsters/guinea pigs? #4. Is it alright to modify a large cat cage to house chins? As i understand that height & width plays an important role too. #5. Where's the nearest vet in case of emergencies? Are you in Selangor? |

Thanks for answering my Q's Chincillas...
Another thing. Won't their urine make the wire mess rust? Reason why I asked if you are in Selangor is hopefully by the time I really made up my mind to get these "furballs", I would really love to get it from you. |

QUOTE(Chinchillas @ May 13 2008, 11:31 PM) Eventually wire mess will rust. If your bottom is solid, like plastic solid, it wont rust. That's why still is the best and safe for you to buy a cage rather then make your self, cause you still not familiar with what this animal living lifestyle. I know that for a fact...Reading & researching is different than actually experiencing it... Thanks again |

QUOTE(Chinchillas @ Jul 20 2008, 11:26 AM) Hi saramic, Thanks for the quick tip on testing the temperature. There is many 'level' of condition of not create a artificial cooling enviroment for chinchilla. I have know many many chins owner, not providing AC. The only thing need to know is is the house temperature is too high. Some houses tent to be very hot even tho is double story, down stay still will feel like an oven, some apartment is hot, some apartment is ok, some single story house also have some spot is in ok level. A chinchilla live in temperature above 25C will not hv good fur, will eat less, and need dust bath very often to maintain they fur and is not in safe zone of not begin overheat. Because they have about 60-80 hairs sprouting from each hair follicle, human begin have 1-3 hairs sprouting from each hair follicle ONLY. Chinchilla or any pet doesnt not tolerate at all smoking, smoker is definately can't own any animal basically, but the world now is you hv money you can buy the animal. I see the time you reply, is 4:22AM! I think you are very suitable with animal that is nocturnal(awake at night), provided you not a smoker. Create an artificial enviroment of their kind will definately be a yes to chinchilla. Will try it out once I've moved into my apartment. Yes I'm nocturnal & that's why I decided to get sugar gliders & because of that too I've quit smoking together with my bf. Having pets is just like having children & I only want whats good for them hence the reading & understanding the needs of the pet. heng84 I'm so sorry for your lost...
