Hi Jao,
HK have many chin owner, you can have a lot of fun there, if you need some connection from HK, i can introduce you directly to them. (Cause they near to you, when got problem you can hunt for their help). smile.gif

Your chin look lovely, your cage look lovely, but your interior is not lovely to your chin. Remove the wool toy, your chin will soon chew it down and get stuck in the stomach.

Hi Chin,

Yes please I would love to get in touch with fellow chin owners here. I hope there are local forums in English as well as I am not proficient in Chinese.

As for the toys hahaha they were just for the picture. I have already taken them out. My gf will kill me if those toys get torn up. Thanks for the heads up though.

They can only speak Cantonese.... blush.gif

Hi Chin,

I read that you keep your wonderful collection of chins in one room with the A/C on 24/7 and a little bit of the window open. As it's summer now here and with humidity levels very high (60-80%), I am following your footsteps and doing the same thing. I keep the A/C in my living room at 25C constantly in auto mode, with the door to the toilet slightly open and the exhaust fan on.

But now I have the "pet smell" that you get from owning a dog or cat in the apartment. I believe its from the urine odors. I use a generic pine shavings and everytime I see a stain i pick them up and throw them away or i mix them up with the rest of the shavings. I have also sprinkled baking soda on the bedding to help absorb the smell. I have activiated charcoal all over the place as well.

But whenever I return home from work, the smell is very evident once I open the door. I'm thinking of investing in an air purifier now. What are your tricks? Any tips?

You can offer more dust bath for your chin in this season.

You can use wood shaving, not pine shaving for your chin. You can use carefresh if you in HK, and the most cost effective , quality bedding for pet owner is chipsi classic. Dont put baking soda in your bedding, is toxic to chin when they eat it. If you want to cut down your urine smell ,us a toilet. Get a corner pan toilet with wire, put in the bedding there(include your baking soda this ime) then you can change it every day or every other day, you should be able to achieve 99% odor free.

Yes, a good air purifier is good investment, just need to clean it every 5 days or so, you can have very fresh air around your room.

Thanks angelz!

I saw something disturbing yesterday. Furby was standing there in the afternoon on his log, and all all of a sudden his penis extended out of his belly and he starting sucking it.

WTF.

Both of you bringing your chin to the office......! sweat.gif I would not suggest that, as chinchilla are nortunal, they need to sleep at day time, changing this natural build in system will greatly affect your chinchilla health.

hi guys, i've got my new chinchilla back home.. they dont allow me to hold them and will try to run away... why when my hand near it, it will let out a sound like warning me not to touch them..?
*
Yes, because the chin u get were dramatise (overly afraid and stress) at where u bough them, they r always in high stress, that enviroment will produce this kind of chin. Just continue to love the chin, it may take sometime for him to trust u and settle down emotionally.

Hi to all Chin's owners~~~

I'm new to this forum and this Chinchilla's thread really caught my attention...
Actually, I'm really interested in having Chin as a pet but unfortunately, there are 2 problems I'm encountering here... Hence, I would like to post up the problems and see if I am able to have Chin as a pet >.<
Hope all the experts here will give me a lot of opinions  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
First - My main problem is the temperature... I learnt that Chin will get heat stroke when they are exposed to heat above 27 degree Celcius and they can't go below 10 degree Celcius... However,1.  my room temperature actually can be extremely hot (not sure how many degree Celcius it can go up to) that me myself even could hardly withstand it... And the worst thing is I do not own an air-cond in my room... So I would like to get some suggestion from all of you on how to prevent my future Chin from having heat stroke...

Second - Every Sunday, I need to head back to my University as I am still studying (I'm living near to my University and this is the place where the room is extremely hot!!!)... And on Friday/Saturday I need to head back to parents house... Hence the problem is that I travel back and forth every week... I remember that constant travelling is not good for Chin as they will get panic easily when their environment changes... So I need some advice here, 2. is it fine to bring my Chin back and forth like that every week???

So based on the problems above, is it safe for me to have Chin as a pet???

And one more question... If I try to purchase a Chin through Mount of Chinchilla, can I go there personally to choose the Chin I like???  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
3. The breeders at Mount of Chinchilla are really experts... All their Chin's look are healthy and cute >.<
Please give me some suggestions/opinions~~~  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

Hi... base on your question, here is the answer.

1. If your self can't stand the heat in your room, it mean you can't hv your chin in there, it will surely die in no time.

2. No, chin need a permenant place to be settle down, can't be taking it lilke dog n cat anyway or anytime.

3. You can pm him, he nick name in LYN is call "Chinchillas" biggrin.gif

poor thing.. T.T
ya.. i actuali met this person before (the one who sell this chin),
i was askin him if theres any female chin for sale..
he told mi that currently onli 2 standard grey is available..
but theres abit loss of fur near the mouth there..
and he did say that it will recover very soon..
he keep askin mi to go and see first then decide whether wan to buy or not..
ok.. since he said its not serious.. so i decided to go n take a look first..
i drove all the way from sunway to cheras.. (his place is so hard to find somemore)
wen i saw the chins, i was actualli wanted to cry OUT ady..  cry.gif
40% of their cur is falling off.. its terrible..
i feel sad for the chins.. realli very sad..
he is the worst breeder i ever seen..
i hope he saved the chins.. and not giving up them.. T.T
i thot onli that 2 chins that i saw are sick.. but nw i guess all his chins are sick...
