i heard that if the server is blocking the MSN connection . we can use the proxy SOCKS 4.0 or 5.0 or HTTP Proxy config to connect to the base server . i am wondering , how can i do that in MAC msn ? or Adium ?

my senior is using the msn in their PC .
they said need to use MSN 7.0 ... not 7.1 or 7.2 or anything .
and the setting of SOCKS 4.0 5.0 or what need to change ... use manual setting... or use HTTP setting.

Just set the proxy in your system preferences. It goes system wide. So after you've done that, adium should work. Though, your company might block proxy servers too tongue.gif

huh.gif I dono you get my message or not. I'm talking about web proxy. I'm not sure about company, maybe only for big company, like my university, it using its own proxy. So, you can only online by using university proxy. Once you change to other proxy servers in your system perferences, it won't work la. sweat.gif doh.gif Only web proxy can work.

Yeah I was talking about using web proxies. You have to set it up in your System Preferences. Now you got me confused. Let me clarify my post then. Unlike windows, where you have to set up proxies in individual programs, in OSX you set it once in your system pref's and all programs will follow. Unless your company/university blocks proxy servers as well then this method will work for you. If not, then you're out of luck. When I'm on my universities network, I can sign in to MSN and Yahoo messenger through Adium. But I can't connect to iChat because they block ports which is another thing to be wary of. Now that, can't be circumvented unless you use a http tunneller.
